TFTA - Tripartite Free Trade Area: thanks to this

agreement three existing trade blocs – the Southern

united to create the continent’s largest free-trade zone,

covering 26 countries (625 million customers and a

total GDP of 1.000 billion USD) in an area from Cape

Town to Cairo.

Egypt o�ers a lot of investment opportunities. The Government medium

term development strategy has targeted high potential sectors:

infrastructure, housing & utilities (1.15 million new housing units will be

built over 5 years), tourism, transport and logistics. Key objective is to

improve overall infrastructure and housing quality and to bring about the

transformation of Egypt’s economic base through reforms and projects

that boost productivity and encourage sustainable private sector-led

growth.

Egypt plans to promote about 60 big projects (public and private) in the

upcoming years, with the aim of luring fresh investments to boost its

limping economy.

PROJEX AFRICA

Projex Africa targets the complete life cycle of the

modern building industry. The focus is, in

particular, on innovation, green building, energy

e�ciency, renewable energy and sustainability.

It is the focal trade link in the construction sector

between the world and Africa. For all the operators

in the field of construction, the event is the ideal

showcase for today’s and tomorrow’s solutions. It

aims not only to satisfy the new and fast growing

needs of the booming continent, but also targets to

address the future challenges of the construction

industry.

Among other impressive big projects, Egypt plans

to build the New Cairo, the new administrative and

economic capital, sustainable and “smart”, which

will cover an area of over 700 km2 on the outskirts

of Cairo and will host 5 milion residents.

The new city – the name of which has not been

revealed – will include 660 health care facilities,

almost 2.000 schools and colleges, 1.250 mosques

and churches and a theme park four times the size

of Disneyland. The project will cost 45 billion USD

and will take seven years to be completed.
