NMC Department Room 415 3-5 pm
The seminar provides an overview of the ancient Egyptian temple as one of the most important architectural features of the ancient Egyptian landscape. The focus lies on the
evolution of the cult place of a god from the Prehistoric to the Greco-Roman Period, but also the symbolism of the temple as a representation of the cosmos and its importance for the Egyptian
economy will be discussed. The case study of Thebes illustrates the integration of temples in their local ritual landscape.
