1. INTRODUCTION
The EHF Style Guide has been produced by the EHF Media and CommunicationsDepartmentandisintendedasareferenceguideforallthoseworkingfororwiththeEuropeanHandballFederation.Ouraimhasbeen to create a common line for the spelling and usage of English words and terminologyacrossallofthefederation’swrittencommunications,whetherthisisinreports,lettersoremails,officialpublicationsorTVgraphics.
Wehaveincludedinformationonthespecificterminologyusedinhandball,namingconventionswithintheEHFanditscompetitionsandalsotipsonthecorrectuseofgrammarandpunctuation.TheEHFusesBritishEnglishasastandardforitswrittencommunicationsandtheOxfordEnglishDictionaryasa reference.
ThisguideformsanimportantpartoftheoverallEHFbrandandcorporateidentityandhasbeendevelopedtoensureaconsistentvoiceandstyleinallofourcommunications.WritteninconsultationwithourcolleaguesintheEHFOfficeaswellasthefederation’svariousstakeholders,theguidedetailstheEHF’sownhousestyleandourownapproachtotheuseoflanguage,terminology and points of grammar to ensure a consistent approach across all of our channels – our hope is that this guide will also help with uncertaintiesaroundthespellinganduseofparticularwordsorterminology.
TheEHFStyleGuideisintendedtobea‘livingandbreathing’documentforbothinternalandexternaluse.Weactivelywelcomechallengesandsuggestionsforadditionstothisguide.Itisourintentiontoupdatetheguide,onatleastanannualbasis,toensurethattheEHF’suseoftheEnglishlanguageremainscurrentandalsoreflectschangeswithinthesportandthefederationitself.

EHF Comptrollers (COMPT)
The EHF Comptrollers is an elected body charged with the internal examinationofallEHFfinancialactivity.TheComptrollersmeetpriortoindependentauditsandpreparereports,whicharethenputbeforetheEHFFinanceDelegation.RefertothefirsttimeasEHFComptrollers(COMPT),thereafterasCOMPT(onlyininternalcommunication).

Nations Board (Men) (NB)
TheNationsBoardrepresentstheinterestsofthememberfederations.Itisthedutyofthebodytoensuretheoveralldevelopmentofhandballbyworkingintheinterestsoftheemergingandestablishednationalfederations.AfurtherfunctionoftheNationsBoardistoanalyseanddeveloptheinputreceivedpriortosubmittingproposalstotheEHFExecutiveCommittee.Itwasintroduced into the EHF structure in 2010 and it is an autonomous group of expertsformingabodythatisdirectlyelectedbyCongress.TheNationsBoardreplacedtheNationalTeamCommitteeandtheNationalTeamBoard.RefertothefirsttimeasNationsBoard(NB),andthereafterasNB(onlyininternalcommunication).

The chairman of the Professional Handball Board also has a seat on theEHFExecutiveCommittee:

TheEHLBisagroupwithintheEHFstructurecomparabletotheNationsBoard.ThemainfocusoftheEHLBistoworkonacloselevelwithEuropeanleaguesonvariousaspectsandfacilitateanexchangeofinformationonawiderangeoftopicssuchasmedia,events,licensing,bestpracticeandnewbusinessmodels.In2018,theEHFintroducedanewly-configuredleaguestakeholder,theEuropeanHandballLeagueBoard(EHLB)inresponsetoeffortstostrengthenthestakeholdergroup‘leagues’.Itwillnominatetwomembers to sit on the Professional Handball Board (PHB).

Technical Refereeing Committee (TRC)
TheTechnicalRefereeingCommittee(TRC)isathinktankfortheEHFCompetitionsCommitteeinrefereeingmatterswithspecialfocusonrefereeeducationandactivities.TheTRCmembersarenominatedbytheEHFExecutiveCommittee.ItconsistsofsixmembersandischairedbymemberoftheEHFCompetitionsCommissionresponsibleforrefereeing.
