    a Total corn and other biomass inputs to the production of undenatured ethanolused for fuel ethanol.

    b Losses and co-products from the production of fuel ethanol. Does not includenatural gas, electricity, and other non-biomass energy used in the production of fuelethanolthese are included in the industrial sector consumption statistics for theappropriate energy source.

    c The amount of denaturant in fuel ethanol produced.d Includes denaturant.e Through 2009, data are for fuel ethanol imports only; data for fuel ethanol

    exports are not available. Beginning in 2010, data are for fuel ethanol importsminus fuel ethanol (including industrial alcohol) exports.

    f Stocks are at end of period.g A negative value indicates a decrease in stocks and a positive value indicates

    an increase.h Consumption of fuel ethanol minus denaturant. Data for fuel ethanol minus

    denaturant are used to develop data for "Renewable Energy/Biomass" in Tables10.110.2b, as well as in Sections 1 and 2.

    i Derived from the preliminary 2012 stocks value (20,677 thousand barrels), notthe final 2012 value (20,350 thousand barrels) that is shown under "Stocks."

    R=Revised. NA=Not available.Notes: Mbbl = thousand barrels. MMgal = million U.S. gallons. TBtu = trillion

    Btu. Fuel ethanol data in thousand barrels are converted to million gallons bymultiplying by 0.042, and are converted to Btu by multiplying by the approximateheat content of fuel ethanolsee Table A3. Through 1980, data are notavailable. For 19811992, data are estimates. For 19932008, only data forfeedstock, losses and co-products, and denaturant are estimates.Beginning in 2009, only data for feedstock, and losses and co-products, areestimates. See "Denaturant," "Ethanol," "Fuel Ethanol," and "Fuel Ethanol MinusDenaturant" in Glossary. Totals may not equal sum of components due toindependent rounding. Geographic coverage is the 50 states and the District ofColumbia.
