Number of team members • Team formation will occur onsite at the Problem Expo on Day 0. • Team Clinic takes place on Day 1 and Day 2 to finalize the teams. • All teams must be submitted and confirmed on the Online Platform by the end of Day 2. Timing • Mentors will be assigned based on their specialization as determined by industry background, knowledge of business model (B2B, B2C) and experience with techno- logical platform (web, mobile, hardware). • Mentors will be assigned by the EIA Team on the Online Platform on Day 1. • All teams will work with a Chief Mentor, Marketing Mentor, Design Mentor and ex- perts (Life Coach, IP Lawyer and Pitch Coach). • If a team gains access to Product Development Sprint, they will work with a Soft- ware Mentor and a Hardware Mentor. Mentors Matching with teams • Competencies of team members Each team should have at least one software developer, with a maximum of two developers per team. If you do not have a software developer in your team, you can outsource the competence. • Other competence in the team should include: - UX/UI design - Marketing - Business - Other • Teams should have diversity regarding gender and nationality. • Not more than 2 people from the same school should be in one team. • EIA Team and Mentors reserves the right to review and advise on the diversity of the teams.     TEAM SELECTION2.

    • Participants can submit a problem onto the Online Platform starting 1 month prior to the program. If you choose to do so, please describe: - The problem you are trying to solve - Customers you want to target• Other participants select a problem most interesting to them: - Join the online discussion on it by leaving questions and comments on the problem page on the Online Platform. - Meet with the problem uploader at the Problem Expo on Day 0.

    Selection Process

    • All participants have a chance to present on Day 0 of the program at the Problem Expo. They will fill in a canvas describing the problem and the potential customer. • If the team has 5 members, they will meet with the Chief Mentors to be confirmed and assigned a mentor. • Different solutions are discussed, challenged and assessed by participants in a team or group until one idea is collectively agreed on as a team.• Idea development and modification will continue throughout the first days of the EIA program.

    On-site:

    • An idea does not have any practical value. Execution gives the idea value as it turns into business. Initial ownership is determined by posting onto the Online Platform; the solution ownership should become collective by all the members of the executing team.• Uploads to the Online Platform are used for educational purposes.• There is no formal protection for intellectual property by the organizers of the pro-gram. It is a public event and you will be working in an open space with collaborators and mentors. • The organizers do not sign any legal documents, mentors can give general advice, but they are not permitted to give specific legal counselling.

    PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT SPRINT3.

    • Product Development Sprint is special 1-to-1 session with software mentors to devel-op the product.• Teams that fill the following criteria are granted access to Product Development Sprint starting from Day 10. - Software & hardware mentors approve the Digital Prototype (link upload deadline Day 8 at 8 PM). - One team member has gained required Growby points (deadline Day 8 at 8 PM) by completing courses. - All mentor validation for Day 1 - 8 (deadline Day 8 at 8 PM).• List of teams that have gained access to Product Development Sprint will be pub-lished via Growby the latest on Day 10 by 1 PM.

    MARKET TRACTION4.

    • Teams must have at least 500 customers or users for their product to gain access to Investor Pitch.• Market traction will be measured on Day 13 at 8 PM.• Teams must provide proof of traction by uploading the information to their team worksheet on the Online Platform. This can be presented as: - Number of sign-ups from customers (list of emails, outtake from HubSpot CRM, outtake from other CRM systems). - Official correspondence (letter of intent) and/or documents from companies indicating the number of users.

    PITCHING5.

    • Requirements to access the Investor Pitch: - 500 proven customers or users (deadline Day 13 at 8 PM). - All mentor validation for Day 1 - 13 (deadline Day 13 at 8 PM).• 3 Wild Card teams will be chosen at random by the moderator from all the teams that have not gained access based on the criteria.• 1 team will be chosen from the Product Development Sprint teams based on their developed technical solution by the Software Mentors. • Note: Only the declared teams and the selected Wild Cards may participate in the Investor Pitch. • Teams advancing will be announced on Day 15 at 10 AM

    Access to Investor Pitch

    • Advancing teams will have a 1-on-1 pitch with investors.• Teams will be assigned an investor(s) to pitch their idea/product.• Each pitching session will consist of: - 3 minute pitch & 6 minute of Q&A • Based on this presentation the investors will choose the top 10 teams. • 1 Wild Card will be chosen at random by the moderator from all the teams to gain access to Grand Pitch• The criteria that investors will assess on the scale of 0-10 are: - Opportunity (proof of problem/solution fit) - Traction (proof of product/market fit) - Execution (proof of business model fit) - Team - Presentation• Note: there are no other sub-categories and all teams will be evaluated equally in the selection process (B2C v. B2B, software v. hardware, live solution v. prototype only).

    Investor Pitch

    The Grand Pitch session will consist of:• 3 minute pitch & 3 minute Q&A from investors to teams • Note: the Grand Pitching session serves as a valuable on-stage pitching experience; there is no single winner. • All teams that present at the Grand Pitching will receive an award to continue devel-oping their idea (for example, follow-up mentoring, expedited interview to accelera-tors etc).• The list of awards will be presented during the program. EIA Team will contact all the award winners in two weeks after the program with details on how to realize the award.

    UNIVERSITY CREDIT POINTS6.If you need the Transcript of Records for 6 ECTS offered by EIA, please send an email to [email protected] including your name, date of birth, university, and the country you participated at EIA (Portugal or Italy).

    The Transcript of Records will be issued only upon your request (not automatically) and sent to your email in a digital format (PDF) not before 60 days after the end of the program. Make sure to request the credits before September 3, 2019.

    UNIVERSITY CREDIT POINTS7.Physical aggression, verbal abuse or harassment or unethical behavior towards other participants, mentors, visitors or EIA Team is not tolerated at the European In-novation Academy event. This will be followed by immediate expulsion from the event. EIA Team reserves the right to act according to their discretion.

    The participation fee or any other cost will not be returned to an individual who is ex-pelled from the program.

    All participants are responsible for safe keeping their own personal belongings.

    In case of any kind of emergency, contact the officials if necessary and also inform the EIA Team as quickly as possible.
