EMPFEHLUNGEN ZUM SCREENING UND DER DIAGNOSE VON EISENMANGEL BEI HI PATIENTEN
ESC Guidelines2016[a]
Consider ID in the diagnostic workup of all patients with newly diagnosed HF (class of
recommendation/level of evidence 1C)
ESC Clinical Practical Recommendations 2018[b]
Evaluate ID in all patients with existing HF, particularly if they are symptomatic despite
receiving optimal background HF medications
Evaluate ID as part of routine follow-upRe-evaluate iron status 1 to 2 times/y and after any hospitalization for HF

Treatment with FCM significantly prolonged 6MWT distance at Week 24 (difference FCM vs placebo: 33+11 m, P = .002. Improvement in New York Heart Association (NYHA) class, patient global assessment (PGA), QoL, and Fatigue Score in patients treated with FCM was detected with statistical significance observed from Week 24 onwards. Treatment with FCM was associated with a significant reduction in the risk of hospitalisations for worsening HF [hazard ratio (95% confidence interval [CI]): 0.39: 0.19, 0.82), P = .009
Ponikowski P, et al. Eur Heart J. 2015;36:657-668.
CONFIRM-HF: CLINICAL TRIAL RESULTS
CV hospitalisations and all-cause mortality Data were from 4 randomised controlled trials (RCTs) comparing FCM with placebo in patients with systolic HF and ID
Compared with those taking placebo, patients on FCM had lower rates of recurrent cardiovascular (CV) hospitalisations and CV mortality (rate ratio 0.59, 95% CI: 0.40, 0.88; P = .009)
Treatment with FCM also reduced recurrent HF hospitalisations and CV mortality (rate ratio 0.53, 95% CI: 0.33, 0.86; P = .011) and recurrent CV hospitalisations and all-cause mortality (rate ratio 0.60, 95% CI: 0.41, 0.88; P = .009)
