9.1 Overview: Maintenance andservice
This chapter contains information about:
▪ The yearly maintenance of the domestic hot water tank
9.2 Maintenance safety precautionsDANGER: RISK OF ELECTROCUTION
DANGER: RISK OF BURNING
NOTICE: Risk of electrostatic discharge
Before performing any maintenance or service work, toucha metal part of the unit in order to eliminate static electricityand to protect the PCB.
WARNING
▪ Before carrying out any maintenance or repair activity,ALWAYS switch off the circuit breaker on the supplypanel, remove the fuses or open the protection devicesof the unit.
▪ Make sure you do NOT touch a conductive section.
▪ Do NOT rinse the outside of the unit. This may causeelectric shocks or fire.
9.3 Checklist for yearly maintenanceof the domestic hot water tank
Check the following at least once a year:
▪ Temperature and pressure relief valve
▪ Inlet control group
▪ Relief valve of the domestic hot water tank
▪ Descaling
▪ Chemical disinfection
▪ Switch box
▪ Pressure relief valve hose
▪ Booster heater of the domestic hot water tank
Temperature and pressure relief valveCheck for correct operation of the temperature and pressure reliefvalve. Manually operate the temperature and pressure relief valve toensure free water flow through discharge pipe. Turn knob left.
Inlet control groupThe inlet control group is a pressure reducing valve with integratednon-return valve and line strainer. Depending on local waterconditions, annual inspection of the integral line strainer, pressurereducing valve cartridge and seating may be necessary.

a Cartridgeb Strainerc Calibration screw
1 Unscrew the plastic cover of the pressure reducing valve.
2 Extract the cartridge with the aid of long nosed pliers to grip thehead of the set screw.
3 Remove the strainer element.
4 Clean the strainer element and cartridge under clean runningwater.
5 Replace if the strainer or cartridge are damaged.
6 Refit the strainer, cartridge and cover.
7 If the cartridge has been replaced, calibrate the pressurereducing valve:
▪ Close the downstream isolating valve (field supply).
▪ Install an Allen key on the calibration screw in the centre of theplastic cover. Rotate it clockwise to increase the outlet pressureand anticlockwise to reduce it.
Relief valve of the domestic hot water tank (field supply)Open the valve and check the correct operation. Water may be veryhot!
Checkpoints are:
▪ The water flow coming from the relief valve is high enough, noblockage of the valve or in between piping is suspected.
▪ Dirty water coming out of the relief valve:
▪ open the valve until the discharged water does not contain dirtanymore
▪ flush and clean the complete tank, including the piping betweenthe relief valve and cold water inlet.
To make sure this water originates from the tank, check after a tankheat up cycle.
It is recommended to do this maintenance more frequently.
DescalingDepending on water quality and set temperature, scale can depositon the heat exchanger inside the domestic hot water tank and canrestrict heat transfer. For this reason, descaling of the heatexchanger may be required at certain intervals.
Chemical disinfectionIf the applicable legislation requires a chemical disinfection inspecific situations, involving the domestic hot water tank, please beaware that the domestic hot water tank is a stainless steel cylinder
