EL NIÑO ADVISORY

The weak El Niño which started since the last quarter of 2018 has ended based on the final advisory issued by DOST-PAGASA on 09 August 2019. The warmer than average sea surface temperatures (SSTs) in the tropical Pacific Ocean has weakened and transitioned into neutral levels in July. It is expected that ENSO-neutral conditions will likely persist through the remainder of the year.

SUMMARY

I. Status of Affected Families / PersonsA total of 503,012 families or 2,444,959 persons were affected in 4,265 barangays in Regions I, V, VI, VIII, IX, X, XI, XII, Caraga, and CAR (see Table 1 and Annex I).

II. Assistance ProvidedA total of ₱104,996,658.46 worth of assistance was provided to the affected families; of which, ₱25,414,408.46 from DSWD and ₱79,582,250.00 from LGUs (see Table 2).

Status of Prepositioned Resources: Stockpile and Standby Funds

The DSWD Central Office (CO), Field Offices (FOs), and National Resource Operations Center (NROC) have stockpiles and standby funds amounting to ₱1,841,197,425.14 with breakdown as follows:

a. Standby FundsA total of ₱1,114,541,754.24 standby funds in the CO and FOs. Of the said amount, ₱1,076,221,717.34 is the available Quick Response Fund (QRF) in the CO.

b. StockpilesA total of 356,698 family food packs (FFPs) amounting to ₱136,723,008.94 and available food and non-food items (FNIs) amounting to ₱589,932,661.96.

07 October 2019 DSWD-FO VIII There is an on-going distribution of 360 Family Food Packs by the Provincial Action Team in Biliran for the affected farmers

by the drought The LGU of Hinabangan had a remaining 5 unclaimed Family Food Packs by the beneficiaries affected by the drought.

21 August 2019● DSWD-FO VIII facilitated the implementation of Food-for-Work together with the Provincial Action Teams.● Disaster Response Information Management Section (DRIMS) of DSWD-FO VIII DRMD monitored the weather condition and closely

coordinated with SWADTs and PDOs for any additional updates on Food-for-Work implementation.

DSWD-FO IXDATE SITUATIONS / ACTIONS UNDERTAKEN

21 August 2019 ● DSWD-FO IX provided a total of 60,225 family food packs to the affected families.

DSWD-FO CARAGADATE SITUATIONS / ACTIONS UNDERTAKEN

17 July 2019 ● The DRMD Personnel coordinated with the affected LGUs submitted by the DA for possible relief augmentation assistance.● DSWD-FO Caraga submitted the Work and Financial Plan/El Niño Action Plan for the provision of rice subsidy to the affected families.
