Srivastava, Joint CP South & East range on 8.06.2018. The other members were Dr. S.K. Gupta, Mrs. Manjula Aggarwal and Mrs. Meenakshi Gupta & Mrs. Manjula Aggarwal, Nagendra Agarwal, D.K.Sangal, J.R.Gupta & D.C. Srivastava. The delegation members proposed to hold interaction session with Delhi Police on any day at its Recreation Center, Green Park Extension after lunch as per convenience of DCP (South), & Joint CP South & East Range who agreed to grace the event and assured to confirm the date soon at Sri Fort Auditorium. - Report Manjula Agarwal, Cultural Coordinator Senior Citizens Council of Delhi organised Drawing Competition on Saving of Earth and Swachh Bharat Abhiyan on 24-05-2018 at Recreation Center, Green Park Extension in which more than 50 children of different age groups from 5-7 years, 8-10 years and 11-15 years participated along with their parents, in the presence of eminent judges namely Mrs.Sonia Ahuja, Mrs. Geeta Panikar, Retd. Librarian, Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan and Mrs Meera Saxena, TGT, St. Marry School. AUDITORIUM ON 30-05-2018 WSTC U3A TOURISM CONFERENCE AT YANTAI,CHINA ON 24-26 MAY, 2018 L.R.Garg, Secretary of Council from India attended First World Senior Tourism Conference held on 24-26 May, 2018 at Yantai, China followed by Study Tour in which a large number of delegates from various countries like Tunisia, Brazil, Slovakia, Ukraine, U.K., Australia, France, Spain, Senegal, Colombia, Malaysia, Cambodia, Djibouti & Mauritius participated. An important international conference focussed on Requirements for Senior Study Tours with U3As Worldwide. The Conference was presided by Prof. Francois Vellas of France. Mr. Garg felicitated various delegates with mementos on behalf of Senior Citizens Council of Delhi (India). Mr. A Parshuramen, from Mauritius also addressed the Conference. - Editor 40 members of Senior Citizens Council of Delhi visited Tirupati and Rameshwaram led by its President, J.R.Gupta from 9th to 11th June, 2018 by air upto Chennai and then by road and reached at Temple premises at prescribed hours of darshan. Members got darshan and blessings of Lord Tirumala Tirupati Balaji and then stayed at night. Her husband extended thanks to the Council, as his grievances were solved. Smt. Usha Kapoor (66), resident of Jangpura Extn. approached the Council on 22-03-2018 with a complaint against her son Mr.Tarun Kapoor & his wife Mrs. Payal Kapoor who has been continuously humiliating mentally & physically, abusing & threatening to lodge false cases to grab her property. Immediately Sh. Param Jit Singh Walia (62), resident of Vikas Puri, approach the Council on 19-02-2018 with a complaint against her son Harpreet Singh & his wife who has been continuously harassing, abusing & beating him & threatening to lodge false cases to grab his property. The case was taken up COUNCIL RESCUES SENIOR CITIZENS Commissioner of Police on 27-02-2018 for providing security. Senior Citizens Council of Delhi organised Drawing Competition on Saving of Earth and Swachh Bharat Abhiyan on 24-05-2018 at Recreation Center, Green Park Extension in which more than 50 children of different age groups from 5-7 years, 8-10 years and 11-15 years participated along with their parents, in the presence of eminent judges namely Mrs.Sonia Ahuja, Mrs. Geeta Panikar, Retd. Librarian, Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan and Mrs Meera Saxena, TGT, St. Marry School. WSTC U3A TOURISM CONFERENCE AT YANTAI,CHINA ON 24-26 MAY, 2018

L.R.Garg, Secretary of Council from India attended First World Senior Tourism Conference held on 24-26 May, 2018 at Yantai, China followed by Study Tour in which a large number of delegates from various countries like Tunisia, Brazil, Slovakia, Ukraine, U.K., Australia, France, Spain, Senegal, Colombia, Malaysia, Cambodia, Djibouti & Mauritius participated. World Laughter Day is an annual event celebrated worldwide to raise awareness about laughter and its many healing benefits, as well as about thousands of community groups around the world – typically known as Laughter Clubs–who regularly practice simple intentional laughter techniques that promote wellness and overall well-being. It is free and open to all. Senior Citizens Council of Delhi has been organising this event regularly for the last so many years with a sole purpose to create awareness to the effect that everybody knows that laughing feels good, but few realize how valuable these simple tools can be in improving our every day wellness and wellbeing. Come discover a new happiness workout and meet in community regular gatherings. Dr.G.L. Gupta an eminent specialist of laughing informed the audience that you can celebrate the laughter in different ways like:-Going outside with family or friends to watch a comedy movie, sitting together with your loved ones and sharing some jokes to laugh, Sharing some interesting and enjoyable incidents happened with you in the past, Sitting together and watching funny clips over the internet. He further demonstrated how to laugh before the audience. After that everybody was laughing and seeing very cheerful and happy. J.R. Gupta, President of Council, told the senior citizens present in large numbers that there are so many benefits of laughing such as:- Laughter reduces depression, Laughing is such a medicine which relieves the pain, Laughter is a sort exercise for facial muscles, Laughing during the mental stress fell you relax and reduces stress level, Laughter promotes communication and fill the gaps, Laughter is a free of cost medicine, Soft Smile on the face increases face beauty, Smile is a gesture of friendship and openness, Smile heals your inner worries. - EDITOR

The Guild of Service in association with Help Age India organised a seminar on Ageing Issues at India International Center on 14-05-2018 in which eminent experts on ageing issues including Sh.Mathew Cherian, CEO, Help Age India, Mohini Giri, Dr.A.B.Dey and senior citizens participated. J.R.Gupta, Chairperson of the Confederation of Senior Citizens Associations of Delhi also addressed the audience and also briefed about various activities organised daily for the cause and care of elderly including protection of lonely senior citizens from abuses/ humiliations at the hands of their own children and others even without the intervention of Delhi Police. He also told about various free facilities to senior citizens on daily basis at Recreation Center, Green Park Extension, which were appreciated by all present.

Senior Citizens Council of Delhi organised Digital Literacy Talk at its Recreation Center, Green Park Extension on 25-05-2018 in association with Help Age India in which more than 50 senior citizens participated and get knowledge how to use their own mobile. Senior Citizens Council of Delhi organised free Health Check up Camp at Recreation Center, Green Park Extension on 26-05-2018, in which more than 100 senior citizens availed the free facilities like ECG test, Blood Sugar Test, BP, consultations by the team of doctors from Primus

Hospital. While thanking the team of doctors, J.R.Gupta, President of the Council told that such camps are being organised on regular basis throughout the year to keep our members fit and healthy. Refreshments packets were also served to all present. - A report by Gyan Singh Tokas

She further told that any senior citizens can avail the services of free lawyer from Delhi State Legal Services Authority in civil and criminal matters for those poor and marginalized senior citizens who cannot afford the services of a lawyer for the conduct of a case or a legal proceeding in any court, tribunal or before any authority. Chief Guest also felicitated senior citizens in Joint Birthday Celebrations with flowers, shawl and gift. She also extended her good wishes for their sound health and long life. While thanking Ms.Goel,

J.R.Gupta, President of the Council appreciated the interest shown by children in the Drawing Competition to create awareness about Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and to Save the Earth. He further told that such Drawing Competitions are being organised by the Council from time to time through out the year. He also extended his best wishes for those senior citizens whose birthday falls in the month of May, 2018. Mrs.Meenakshi Lekhi, Lok Sabha (M.P.) was the Chief Guest who felicitated all the senior citizens present with pagri. An entertainment program of Old Melody songs was also performed by the artists and many male and female senior citizens also enjoyed the songs by dancing in groups at the stage. On this occasion, a special fashion show was also performed by the members of the Council to generate awareness to other fellow senior citizens present in the auditorium which was appreciated very much by arousing applause. While thanking Mrs. Lekhi, J.R. Gupta, President of the Council says that such shows are organised to provide an opportunity to other senior citizens to highlight their hidden talents on regular basis. 10-06-2018, the members went back by road to Chennai Airport and reached by road at Rameshwaram from Madurai Airport. The members have holy bath from 22 different wells inside the temple at Rameshwaram and stayed at night. On next morning of 11-06-2018, the members reached by road to Madurai Airport and then to Chennai Airport and reached Delhi in the evening. DRAWING COMPETETION ON WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY AT RECREATION CENTER ON 24-05-2018

On the eve of World Environment Day, J.R.Gupta, President of Council administered pledge to senior citizens/children at Recreation Center, Green Park Extension on 24-05-2018 not to use plastic bags in order to create awareness about Clean India, Green India. He further advised to present plants instead of gifts to nearer and dearer in future. On this occasion, children in large numbers also participated in drawing competition on Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan and Save Earth. Senior Citizens Council of Delhi will celebrate its 39th Annual Day of Deer Park Satsang on Sunday the 24th June 2018 from 6.30 am to 8.00 am at Deer Park Satsang Sthal, followed by refreshments. On this occasion, Sunder Kand Path would also be recited in the memory of Late Mata Asha Rani Sehgal on her 11th Anniversary. Students of 10th & 12th class scoring more than 94% marks in CBSE examination 2018 would also be felicitated.
