College Students Away from Home Students and parents, we are looking for the addresses of any members who are

studying away from home. We would like to keep in touch with them throughout the school year. Whether you or your child are going away for the first time or not, we would like to get updated information. These names and addresses are sent on to our synod’s Campus Ministry who will be glad to send them free copies of Forward in Christ and Meditations, along with putting them in touch with the campus ministry pastor near them. As you get these new addresses, please email them to the church office at [email protected].

Lakeside Hiring Lakeside Lutheran High School is seeking candidates for the position of Executive

Director. The Executive Director will be responsible for the overall administration of the business side of the school, working closely with the principal and Board of Regents. A successful candidate will be a member of a WELS/ELS in good standing, have an attitude of ministry, a thorough understanding of Biblical principles of stewardship and leadership, and a commitment to the cause of Christian education. In addition, candidates should have a degree in business administration or a related field or have equivalent work experience. Direct questions to Principal James Grasby. Submit a resume and cover to [email protected] before 3:00 pm October 15, 2018. Find a complete position description at llhs.org/apps/pages/employment.

Our Practice of Close Communion We believe from Acts 2:42 and 1 Corinthians 10:16-17 that Holy Communion is the

highest expression of our fellowship with Jesus and with each other, and that God intends the sacrament to be celebrated together by Christians who accept all the teachings of the Bible. If you are a guest and are not yet a member of the WELS/ELS fellowship, we invite you to learn more about us and, most of all, about the Savior whom God has sent. Then join with us at his communion table. To learn more about our faith and fellowship, speak with Pastor Brauer or Pastor Yahnke.

Personal preparation for Holy Communion can be found on page 156 in front of the hymnal.

Communion in Front Rows If you are unable to walk up to the rail for Communion, you may be seated in one of

the front pews during the service. The pastors and elder will come down to the front pews to distribute Communion.

Sunday Presentation / Open Forum Today at 9:15 am we will have a special presentation and open forum between

services regarding Trinity-St. Luke’s Lutheran School, a vital part of our ministry to Christian children and their families. Some recent happenings regarding TSL will be shared. Members will have the opportunity to share their thoughts too. All are invited to attend!

Weekly Bible Classes The Gospel of Matthew – This group meets on Mondays at 7 am in the Conference

Room at church. We are watching segments from Matthew: The Visual Bible, and then discussing our Lord’s life and saving mission. Start the day in God’s Word!

Angels and Demons – The Thursday morning Bible study gathers at 10:30 am in the Conference Room. Are you unclear about the angels and their comforting work on our behalf? Do you want to find out more about the demons so as to be on your guard more against them? Come to learn and grow, as well as to enjoy Christian fellowship.

Bible Readings Included as an insert is a series of weekly Bible readings (beginning on Sunday,

October 7). These readings feature hymns which contain many Scriptural truths. These same hymns and Bible readings are found in the September newsletter.

Thank You from Cheryl Holzhueter I wish to thank all who helped in my retirement celebration on September 23—

Trinity congregation for their generous monetary gift, all the cards of well wishes and gifts from individuals, those made the delicious (and pretty) food table possible, the special choir of former students singing a lovely setting of one of my favorite hymns, and the instrumentalists that accompanied the children’s singing. Much work went into making my retirement celebration a special memory I will always cherish, and I thank you all for that. The Lord’s richest blessings to all at Trinity! Cheryl Holzhueter.

Thank You from Jared and Dani Matthies Jared and I are humbled by the generosity and support we've received from our

church family over the past few months. All the well wishes and support are very much appreciated as we enter our journey into parenthood. Particular thanks to the ladies of the congregation for their kindness and hard work in throwing such a wonderful baby shower on September 23! Thanks be to God for his many blessings on our little family! Dani Matthies

Reorder Time for Forward in Christ and Meditations Our yearly subscriptions of Forward in Christ and Meditations are expiring. If you

would like to continue receiving or would like to place a new order for either or both of these periodicals, there are envelopes in the Fireside Room that can be filled out and placed in the box or the offering baskets.

Forward in Christ The October issue of Forward in Christ is available to subscribers in the Fireside

Room. This will be your last issue if you have not renewed your subscription for 2019. A library copy is available on the bookshelf in the Fireside Room.

TSL Scrip

TSL Scrip sales will be on Wednesdays at both campuses: Wednesday at Clark Street from 7:45-8:05 am and at Western Ave from 2:45-3:10 pm. Scrip is available from many well-known stores. You purchase them as gift cards and use them the same way. You don't have to spend it all at one time, at most places. TSL School gets a percentage of the face value for every scrip you purchase. If you are unfamiliar with how TSL Scrip works, please call Sara Hendricks at 920-988-5555 or Katy Zastrow at 920-248-6953. They'll be happy to give you information about this program.
