Mock Project Timeline
Year 1
Employee Incentives to Promote Development
• Support from community leaders and departmental involvement in program are requested by Mayor & Energy Manager
• Raspberry Pi BACnet controlled training module is created with software consulting resources
Building Infrastructure Upgrades
• Gradual replacement or upgrade of ‘energy hogs’ • Implement standard practices to maintain & organize CAD
documents• Infrastructure upgrades with short simple-payback periods
are implemented
Data Management for Public Buildings
• Energy Manager and Data Analyst are trained on Energy Star Portfolio Manager
• Data Analyst is appointed and weather normalization equipment and techniques are established and purchased
• BACnet/Raspberry Pi Training for software developers• Record infrastructure/equipment ownership as
departments opt into program
Mock Project Timeline
Year 2
Employee Incentives to Promote Development
• CIT is implemented• Better Buildings Board is implemented• Raspberry Pi/BACnet training module is created• CIT is trained on BACnet/Raspberry Pi Module
Building Infrastructure Upgrades
• Gradual replacement or upgrade of ‘energy hogs’ • EHSRAs should be adopted by facilities and maintenance staff involved in Better
Buildings Energy Plan• Infrastructure upgrades with short simple-payback periods are implemented• Preventative Maintenance programs for HVAC are developed & implemented
Data Management for Public Buildings
• Data Analyst unveils first monthly report• Department or Facilities Managers take over responsibility for Energy Star
Portfolio Manager• BACnet/Raspberry Pi Training incorporate training module development for
software developers• Implement infrastructure/equipment ownership records as departments opt in• Simple energy-monitoring sub-meters should be installed to isolate department
ownership based on FIFO and departments with major potentials for energy savings
Mock Project Timeline
Year 3
Employee Incentives to Promote Development
• Life Cycle Costs for Procurement are implemented• Comprehensive report should review city building management
strategies and adjust budgets to meet energy reduction goals• CIT is trained on BACnet/Raspberry Pi Module
Building Infrastructure Upgrades
• Gradual replacement or upgrade of ‘energy hogs’ • Infrastructure upgrades with short simple-payback periods are
implemented
Data Management for Public Buildings
• EnPIs are approved by Continuous Improvement Team and submitted for approval to City Council to establish standard accounting practices for Green Funds
• Building and infrastructure ownership is used to track energy savings • Simple energy-monitoring sub-meters should be installed to isolate
department ownership based on FIFO and departments with major potentials for energy savings
Mock Project Timeline
Year 4
Employee Incentives to Promote Development
• Energy-savings EnPIs are reviewed by Continuous Improvement Team
• Quarterly acknowledgements and rewards are established by City and approved by Accounting
• Hold Energy Awards ceremony to celebrate success
Building Infrastructure Upgrades
• Building employee evaluations include environmental aspects such as involvement with EHSRAs
• Gradual replacement or upgrade of ‘energy hogs’ • Infrastructure upgrades with short simple-payback periods
are implemented
Data Management for Public Buildings
• Raspberry Pi downstream development must be evaluated based on current technologies
• Infrastructure ownership are used to document Green Funds and provide supplemental funds for departments
• Simple energy-monitoring sub-meters should be installed to isolate department ownership based on FIFO and departments with major potentials for energy savings
