East Surrey College, Gatton Point, Redhill, RH1 2JX, 1 year part time evenings.

Entry requirements:

Electrical Installation Level 3 Diploma (2365) or have suitable relevant experience and knowledge of the electrotechnical

industry. Formal qualifications are required to join the course, due to the nature of the subject; it is recommended

learners have a good understanding of Maths, English and Science 9GCSE grade ‘A’ – ‘C’, or equivalent) and I.T

Functional Skills. Acceptance on this course will be subject to an interview and Skills Scan.

What qualifications will I get?

Electrical Installation Level 3 Diploma in Electrical Installation

Course description:

The course consists of six mandatory units covering the theory and practical aspects of electrotechnical technology for

buildings and structures, to include health and safety, electrical science, renewables, working effectively and

installation practice. This qualification does not form part of an apprenticeship framework and learners will need to

complete an NVQ Diploma to become a qualified electrician. However, learners may transfer this qualification into the

NVQ framework at a later date by completion of a bridging unit. The course is divided into theory classroom lessons

and practical sessions in our workshop, where you will learn and practice the necessary skills.

The course is logically organised into seven main sections based around the mandatory units:

Fault Diagnosis & Rectification

Inspection, Testing & Commissioning

Electrical Systems Design

Type of assessment:

Candidates will be required to undertake a time constrained multiple-choice online (e-volve) exam and practical

assignments

For learners to gain the most from their course, materials that learners must provide are as follows:

Reference books/textbooks: C & G L3 Diploma in Electrical Installations

IET Requirements for Electrical Installations BS 7671: 2008 (2015) orange cover.

IET On-Site Guide to BS7671: 2008 (2015) orange cover

IET GN3 Inspection & Testing

Calculator (non-programmable)

Stationery (pens, pencils, A4 folder, etc.,

To meet health & safety requirements within our realistic work environment, learners must provide steel toe-capped

boots/safety shoes and must wear suitable clothing.

Where can it lead?

On completion of this qualification candidates may progress into employment as an electrician’s mate or to the

following City Guilds qualifications (subject to suitable experience):

Electrotechnical Technology City & Guilds Level 3 NVQ Diploma (Apprenticeship)*

*It is possible to transfer the 2365 qualification/s to off-set units within the 2357 (Recognised Prior Learning).
