2005 Sulfones Sulfones Q 0600 Electron Beam-Induced Fries Rearrangement of Sulfonamide and Sulfonate Crystals. — The electron-beam sensitivity of sulfonic acid derivatives, e.g. (I) and (IV), in the crystalline state is much higher than that of the corresponding carboxylic acid derivatives. Compound (I) and (IV) undergo chemoselective Fries rearrangement to give ortho and para products in the ratio of ca. 7/3 without the meta isomer. — (KATO*, J.; MAEKAWA, Y.; YOSHIDA, M.; Chem. Lett. 34 (2005) 2, 266-267; Dep. Pure Appl. Chem., Fac. Sci. Technol., Sci. Univ. Tokyo, Noda, Chiba 278, Japan; Eng.) — M. Paetzel 28- 099
