Warnings and Safety Precautions

Thisscalemeetstheguidelinesandstandardsgoverningelectronicequipment,electromagneticcompatibilityandthestipulatedsafetystandards.Improperuseorhandlingcanresultinpropertydamageand/orpersonalinjury.Topreventdamagetotheequipment,readtheseoperatinginstructionsthoroughlybeforeusingyourscale.Keeptheseinstructionsinasafeplace.

– Iftheequipmentisnotusedinaccord-ancewiththeoperatinginstructions,productliabilitymaybeaffected.

– Donotexposethescaletoextremetemperatures,aggressivechemicalvapors,moisture,shocksorvibrations.

– Thedisplayedvaluescanbeaffectedwhensubjectedtoextremeelectromag-neticinfluence.Whenthenegativeinflu-encehassubsided,thescalewillagainbefullyoperational.

– Ifyouusecablespurchasedfromanothermanufacturer,checkthepinassignmentsinthecableagainstthosespecifiedbySartoriusbeforeconnectingthecabletoSartoriusequipment,anddisconnectanywiresthatareassigneddifferently.TheoperatorshallbesolelyresponsibleforanydamageorinjuriesthatoccurwhenusingcablesnotsuppliedbySartorius.

– Whenconnectingthescaletothepowersupply,thelawsvalidinyourcountrymustbeobserved.Ifyoushouldhaveanyquestions,pleasecontactyoursupplierorSartoriusCustomerServiceforinforma-tiononthelegalregulationsapplicableinyourcountry.Thescalemustbeinstalledbyacertifiedtechniciantoavoidforfei-tureofallclaimsunderthemanufacturer’swarranty.

!Ifyouseeanyindicationthatthescalecannotbeoperatedsafely(forexample,duetodamage),turnitoffandlockitinasecureplaceorotherwisepreventuseoftheequipmentforthetimebeing.Adheretotheaccidentpreventionregulationsandinformtheoperatorsaccordingly.

!AlwaysmakesuretheequipmentisdisconnectedfromACpowerbeforeperforminganyinstallation,cleaning,maintenanceorrepairworkonthescale.Toavoidforfeitureofallclaimsunderthemanufacturer’swarranty,allrepairandmaintenanceworkmustbeperformedbyauthorizedSartoriusservicetechnicians.

– Allothercablesconnectingtheweighingequipmentandperipheraldevices,aswellasthewiringinsidethedevices,arecasedinPVCmaterials.Chemicalsthatcorrodethesematerialsmustbekeptawayfromthesecables.

!Neveruseahammertoclosethelidofapaintcanwhileitisstillontheweighingpan.Otherwise,youwilldamagetheweighingsystem.

Weighing with One Decimal PlacePlaceanemptypaintcanontheweighingpan.PressthetarekeyU(5).Thedisplayshows“0.0 g.”Pourinthefirstcomponent,andreadofftheweightassoonasthestabilitysymbolappears;inthiscase,“g.”Pourinadditionalcomponentsuntilthedesiredweightofyourformulaisreached.Removethefilledpaintcanfromtheweighingpan.

Neveruseahammertoclosethelidofapaintcanwhileitisstillontheweighingpan.Otherwise,youwilldamagetheweighingsystem.

TurnonthescaleusingtheQkey(2).

Afterthescalehasbeenturnedon,itwillautomati-callyrunaself-test.Attheendofthistest,0.0gisdisplayed.

Ifadifferentreadoutisdisplayed,zeroortarethescaleusingthetarekeyU(5).

Applications

Formulation Mode (Calculation by a Factor)Thismodeenablesyoutoweighinamountsthataresmallerorlargerthanthatofyourbasicformulaforaspecificpaintcolor(e.g.,250mlofa1-lformula).Youcanselectvariousfactors(amounts)bypressingtheKformulationkey(7):0.25 0.5 0.75 1.0 1.5 2.0 2.5 3.0 3.5 4.0 4.5 5.0.

Bypressingthe Rkey(3):upwardsor Skey(4):downwards,youcanalterthevalue – in0.1increments,asoffactor1.0or – 0.01increments,fromfactor0.25to1.0.

Important Note:Theflashingarrownonthedisplaymeansthattheweightshownisnotverifiedforuseinlegalmetrology(notlegalfortrade).

Example:Asyoupourinthecomponentsofyourformula,theweightisdisplayedin“g.”Let’ssupposeyouwanttoweighonly250mlofabasicformulathatisforatotalamountof1L.Withtherecalculationmode,youdonotneedtomanuallyrecalculatetheindividualcomponents.Thebasicformulafor1literis:

250g 1stcomponent + 250g 2ndcomponent + 500g 3rdcomponent Total: 1000 g

1. Placetheemptypaintcanontheweighingpanandtare(zerothedisplay).

Weighing Using the Recalculation Mode Let’ssupposethatyoupouredintoomuchofonecolorcomponentforagivenformula(e.g.,oneconsistingof4components).Inaddition,let’sassumethatyoupreviouslypouredinalloftheotheramountsexactlyaccordingtoeachofthevaluesyouenteredandstoredbypressingtheLkey[MEM](9).PresstheSkey(4)tostarttherecalculationprogram.“C”willbeginflashingonthedisplay.Tocorrecttheweightdisplayedtothesamevalueyouenteredforthegivenformula,eitherscrollupwardsusingtheRkey(3),ordownwardsusingtheSkey(4).WhenyouthenpresstheLkey[MEM](9),thescalewillautomaticallycalculateanddisplaytheamountsofpaintin“g”toaddforeachoftheothercomponentsthatyoualreadypouredin.Thismodethusensuresthatthetotalresultofyourformulaforthesecomponentswillbecorrect.Afterpouringintheseamounts,youcancontinuetoaddtheremainingcomponentsofyourformula.

Important Note:Youcancorrectanincorrectamountanynumberoftimes.However,thetotal(liter)quantityinthepaintcanwillincreaseeachtimeyoucorrectacomponent.Therefore,presstheckey(8)tocheckhowmuchthetotalquantity(inliters)willbe.(“C”=correctionfactor)

Thearrowninthedisplaymeansthattheweightshownisnotverifiedforuseinlegalmetrology(notlegalfortrade).
