Requirement of IPBPM signal processing

• IP-BPM signal processing: less than 20ns

• Position Resolution: 1~2nm

– power가 -100dBm 이하 (1nm: -107dBm)

– Sensitivity and Noise of BPM is critical

– Improved Gain: now 10dBm.

2. conversion gain : ~ 40dB (기존 10dB)LO signal의 증폭 고려 (200912~201002 실험에서 20dB amplifier 사용 saturation 확인됨)

3. latency : 15ns 이하(희망), (20ns 이하)4. 한 방향으로의 channels 배치5. phase shifter6. power supply : 110V7. 고정용 나사** 이상은 resolution이 더 좋아야 하는 Y-ports

Band width를 얼마만큼의 협대역으로 줄일 수 있는지에 대한 조사가 되어야 할 것 같습니다.

IP-BPM의 경우, 고주파이므로 협대역을 사용하는 것을 더 신중히 고려해야 합니다.

협대역 band width를 사용하게 될 경우, 기성품을 구하기가 싶지 않으므로 제작을 해야 할

가능성도 있어 보입니다.

그외 resolution 값을 영향을 미치는 요인은 잡음지수로

현재, 4dB(BW :10MHz) 에서 3dB로 줄이면, 약 -101dBm

2dB로 줄이면, 약 -102dBm 이 계산됩니다.

참고로, 현재 사용중인 BPF(BW: 400MHz)도 emwise 자체 제작된 것입니다.

현재 Network Analyzer 장비가 다른 장소에 있어서 사용하기 힘든 상황이므로 테스트를 하지 않

았습니다. 다른 isolation 측정값이 data sheet 범위 안에 들기 때문에 별 문제는 없어 보입니다.

1. 측정 환경

- RF, LO에 같은 주파수의 신호를 넣는다.

6.2GHz, -5 dBm 신호를 3dB Power divider로 분배하여 RF, LO에 넣음

- I 신호에 해당하는 cosΦ 와 Q 신호에 해당하는 -sinΦ의 비를 구함

- arc tangent 값에 의해 위상, Φ를 구함

I 신호와 Q 신호의 값을 그림 1에 나타내었다. I가 최대값을 가질 때 Q가 0이고, I가 0일때 Q가 최대

Introduction

차세대 가속기 개발을 위한 BPM (Beam Position Monitor)이 필요.

IP(Interaction Point)-BPM 으로 빔 위치 추적

현재 개발된 IP-BPM 에 비해 좀더 나은 해상도를 가지는 Low-Q IP BPM 제작

공동 길이에 의해 6.2~6.6 GHz 의 주파수 대역을 가짐.

본 논문에서는 빔 위치 측정을 위한 I, Q 신호 출력을 가지는 수신기모듈을 설계, 제작하였다.

• Low-Q IP-BPM 시스템 응용 C 대역 수신기 설계 및 제작

IP-BPM으로부터 180˚ 위상차를 가지는 두 개의 RF신호와 LO 신호를 입력

받아 빔 위치 추적에 사용될 I, Q 신호를 출력함.

LO 입력 신호 전력 : +10 dBm

검파기의 감도 특성 : 66.4 mV / mW

위상 변환 값 : 18.3 degree / V

입력 P1dB : -11 dBm

Conversion Gain : 8.5 dB

IF Port 에서 출력된 90 ˚ 위상차를 가지는 I/Q 신호 검출

신호 처리부에서 위치추적 정보로 활용됨

제작된 수신기는 추후 일본 고에너지 연구소(KEK)에서 사용될 예정임.
