Activity 1 – Business CommunicationYou have been asked by the CEO, Anthony Roberts, of Grow Enterprises, 211 Toorak Road, South Yarra, 3141, Tel. 03 4567 7777 Fax 03 4567 8888, Email: [email protected] www. Growenterprises.com.au - to complete the following 4 typical business tasks.

Use a suitable template from MS Word for each situation – making sure the document style is consistent across all 4 documents.

Make sure that all the documents are of a ‘mail able quality’ i.e. ready to be posted to a client in the normal course of business.

Save each document separately into your BSBITU306 folder with the filename: “Assessment 1A, Assessment 1B etc.

1A. Draft a letter to Mr John Smith, Sales Manager at DKG Solutions of 28 Allison Street, Bulleen VIC 3105. Anthony, the CEO would like to enquire about the cost of renting or leasing computer equipment for his company. He is seeking a computer rental for six months with a configuration of 12 GB RAM, fastest available processor and 4 TB hard drive. Anthony would like DKG Solutions to respond in writing as soon as possible.

1B. Draft a fax to be signed by Anthony to Mr Bill Brown, Manager at Just in Time Couriers, 48 South Road, Hampton East, 3188, Fax Number 03 4562 1122. The couriers have twice failed to deliver important documents in the city area by the requested time. This has caused significant inconvenience to our clients and if the situation does not improve we will engage another courier company to meet our requirements.

1C. Draft an email to all staff informing them that there will be a team meeting at 10.30am Wednesday 7th November 2016. The meeting will focus on current sales levels and sales targets for the coming six months. The meeting will be held in the boardroom and morning tea will be provided.

1D. Prepare a memo for the notice board in the staff kitchen inviting all staff to attend the annual staff dinner at Galaxy Restaurant, 105 Albany Road, Lowana Heights. There will be a set menu of three courses for $32.00 per head. The restaurant has a BYO licence and there is parking at the rear of the restaurant. The booking is for 7.30pm on Saturday 21st July 2016. If staff are attending they should let Jackie know one week before the dinner so the booking can be finalised.

Activity 2 – Superannuation Spreadsheet

Kim has asked you to create a spreadsheet called ‘BSBITU306 – Activity 2’ that that will track

superannuation contributions. There are two types of contribution payable.

Employer contribution, currently 9% of gross wages. Employee voluntary contribution, which varies for each employee according to wages, commission

and percentage of wages contributed.

Design a spreadsheet for the month of November, based on the following data.

Then – make the following changes to the table:5. Add a total row to calculate the totals for appropriate columns 6. Kim has asked you to calculate the highest, lowest and average employer superannuation

contributions. Calculate these figures in a summary area below the total row 7. To compare the Employer and Employee contributions, create a suitable chart on a separate

sheet 8. You have been asked to print a copy of the spreadsheet for a staff meeting. Ensure that the

spreadsheet is displayed appropriately, including a title, landscape orientation, “fit to one page”, centered vertically and horizontally, header/footer etc

9. Create an identical copy in a new sheet that shows the formulae.

Create a database called ‘BSBITU306A – Activity 3 ‘in Microsoft Access software using the following

information, then use the Report Wizard to create a report showing the data sorted by postcode.

Activity 4 – Tourist Directory1. See the information below under TOURIST FILE2. Copy and paste this to a separate file and call it’ BSBITU306 – Activity 4 – TOURIST’3. Open this file and set up the style guide as follows:

a. Heading 1 – Arial 24pt colour Dark Blue and Boldb. Heading 2 – Arial 18pt colour Black, Italicized and Boldc. Normal text – Arial 11pt, colour black. Spacing 1.5 lines.

4. Change orientation to portrait.5. Move the headings (and their paragraphs) into alphabetical order (do not include the introduction

paragraph).6. All paragraphs should be fully justified (not indented and no hanging paragraphs).

a. Apply Heading 1 style to document headings. b. Apply Heading 2 style to paragraph headings.c. All paragraphs should be put on a page each, resulting in 7 pages in total.

7. Insert Contents page as appropriate8. Insert Page Numbering with the Page number centered at the bottom of the page. Ensure page

numbers are not on the cover page and numbers start from 1.9. Insert a section break at the paragraph beginning Introduction and include your name as a Header

on all the pages except the Cover page. Put a single line border underneath your name in the Header.

10. Insert a title page for the document. Use WordArt to add the words TOURIST DIRECTORY as the text. Add an appropriate graphic.

11. Change the Page Numbering so that no Page number appears on the Title Page.12. Position a small relevant graphic right alongside (not underneath) the Heading Restaurants.13. Insert a Footnote after the Big Barracuda in the Attractions paragraph. The footnote should read “à

la carte menu”. Use Symbols to put the French accent on. 14. Under the Travel paragraph, include a table with prices of tourist events you think would be found

in the area – you can make up the type of event and price.15. Check spelling and grammar.16. Update your table of contents.17. Resave the complete file. 18. Resave this file as a template for future Tourist Documents in the company. Use the filename:

Activity 5 - Portfolio

You have just started your own small business and you need to have all the business documents

for this. Devise a company colour scheme, a company logo and ensure that all your documents

have a consistent corporate image. Ensure that you observe copyright legislation. You must have

your organisation name on all documents with ABN numbers, addresses and telephone numbers.

You need to create the following 8 documents:

a) Business card showing your company name, address, contact details and your name with your position title of “Managing Director’.

b) Company letterhead.c) Company Fax cover sheet. d) Company ‘With Compliments’ slip.e) A simple advertising Brochure to sell your products.f) Company calendar that you can give away to your clients, it must include 12 months on a

single A4 page.g) A5 size Flyer to advertise your services – you plan to walk around and place these in

letterboxes.h) Company Tax Invoice.
