Silk Safari This season the atelier launches its fourth collection of strong and wearable separates in chocolate brown, charcoal and ivory inspired by the film The English Patient and Lawrence of Arabia. Big volume summer dresses and jumpsuits sit beautifully with jodhpurs, capes and blouses made in various weights of organic and peace silk. “I love the romantic feel of these films and the earth tones in the landscape”, comments Elena Garcia, our label’s designer. Garcia has developed the theme of multi-functionality further and played with semicircular shapes and ribbon ties to maximum effect. Garments come in one size and can be adjusted to the wearer’s measurements by means of ribbons or shell buttons. “This time I had fun with gathers, exploring different ways of defining the silhouette without constricting the body”, Garcia adds. In terms of textile processes, the collection features EG’s trademark felting on crinkle silk, satin cutwork and stitch resist, a technique in which the fabric is stitched, pleated and then dyed, resulting in pretty regular patterns. As always the range has been made and developed in London, working with local textile and manufacturing units. 1. THIS SEASON’S TROUSERS This season we have developed a new concept of trouser. Inspired by the 1930’s Hollywood glamour and the flowing shapes of desert tribes, we have come up with 2 very versatile shapes: high-waist palazzo and harem-jodhpurs.

High-waisted palazzo trousers in bamboo or silk satin (pictured here in bamboo). 3 ribbons detail to adjust the waist, wide leg. The tweed bustle skirt/dress Our bustle skirt from our AW09 proved so popular that we decided to included in our SS10. It is an incredible piece. Can be worn as an above the knee strapless dress with a tail at the back. This garment defines the silhouette without constricting it thanks to the multiple shell button fastenings at the back.
