Ellen Feickert Elementary March Newsletter Happy March! Happy March! With only about 50 days of school left, it
is difficult to believe we are in the third and final
trimester of school! We are committed to finishing
strong – academically and with outstanding citizenship!
Father Daughter Dance We sang, danced, played games, ate sugary treats, and
generally had a great time. Where, you ask? At the
Annual Father Daughter Dance, of course. The girls
scrubbed up and the dads did too and everyone looked
magnificent. DJ Jukebox C spinned the latest hits
including the Whip and NeNe! The PTO decorated the
MP room beautifully in white, pink and red. The
cookies and punch were delicious. We all had a great
time. Stay tuned to your child’s backpack for the
upcoming Skating Party for Mothers and Sons!! Thank
you to the PTO for another wonderful family event!
Dragon Tech Night Our first ever (and hopefully annual) Dragon Technology Night was held last evening, Thursday, February 25, to almost 100 parents and families. (Our students served as tech support!). Thank you Miss Hocson, Mr. Johnson, Mrs. Merrill, Mr. Merrill, Mrs. Murphy, Mrs. Nixon, Mr. Nixon, Ms. Uebner, and Mrs. Thomas.
English Language Advisory Committee On Thursday, February 25, we held our first of two
English Learner Advisory Committee meetings here at
Ellen Feickert Elementary School. Ms. Hocson, Mrs.
Headley and Mr. Murchison presented to parents and
families regarding the requisites for the committee and
its functions. If you would like more information about
our school’s ELAC and DELAC (District English Learner
Advisory Committee), please contact your child’s
teacher. Thank you!

Spring We have been enjoying an “Early Spring” with students. As a result, and in accordance with our positive theme (Be Safe, Be Kind, and Be Responsible) here at Feickert School, we wanted to remind students and parents/guardians to be mindful of school rules and whether students are following the three tenets (Kind Safe and Responsible) which truly do anticipate issues before they arise. Moreover, we wanted to provide parents and guardians a gentle reminder about our school’s dress code (from our school parent handbook). Thank you for taking time to read and review and preview these important items with your student. Dress Code: All clothing must be neat, clean and appropriate for a regular
instructional day at school. It must be such a design that it invites only
positive comments from classmates, and promotes self esteem. Clothing
must be safe, and worn in a safe manner. Clothing must not promote
conflict among students. Students who are dressed inappropriately will be
sent to the office to call home for new clothes.

Basketball Team Congratulations to the coed Dragon Basketball Team. Our team posted a final record of 8-1!! That is correct – 8 wins and 1 loss – The team battled throughout the season and Coach Nixon and Coach Witzke poured over strategies to produce a fine squad with an outstanding record. More impressive is the way the lady and gentlemen conducted themselves with excellent school pride and exemplary citizenship. Congratulations to the team on a great season. Thanks again to Mr. Nixon, Mr. Witzke, Mrs. Nixon and Mr. Martinelli (scorekeepers), all of the students who wore the “Spike the Dragon” Mascot and everyone else who showed up and gave a lot of support to the team. (A small thank you to Mr. Murchison as a referee – although he did make some bad calls!!!). Go Dragons!!
Musical Mayhem Productions It is that time of year again when the MMP Team visits
the Feickert Campus in order to prepare for the next
production. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory will be

beginning March 15. If your student has an interest,
please contact your child’s teacher or the school office.
This will prove to be an exciting and amazing
performance by our own students. Good luck everyone
and we will see you on Show Night!
Summer School Please mark your calendars for June 6 – June 30,

ANNUAL
FEICKERT
READ-A-THON
GET 5 FOR $5.00 CHALLENGE
Last year, your contributions helped us surpass our goal of raising $5,000
for new books and materials for our school and classroom libraries! We
greatly appreciate your participation and generosity! Ellen Feickert
Elementary is hosting its 2nd annual school reading fundraiser. This year,
we hope this student driven fundraiser will help us raise funds to further
support our literacy and technology needs. 100% of the profits from
this fundraiser will be used for continued support of the Feickert
library and school-wide literacy and technology programs. This
fundraiser is a great way for families to support our school and for
students to take pride in working hard on their reading skills while
earning money for our library. Students will ask family and friends to
sponsor them for minutes read during Read Across America Week.
Students will keep a reading log to keep track of their reading and will
collect the donations from their sponsors at the end of the week. Our
school will help promote reading with guest readers, classroom
incentives, and a spirit week.
EVERY DONATION HELPS!
