    Ellerton Drive extensionCommunity Update

    Bridge construction progressing over the Queanbeyan River, looking east

    Work on the Ellerton Drive extension is progressing well with the project on track for completion by mid-2020.

    98% of earth moved

    5 of 9 bridge segments launched

    2.9km of 4.4km paving laid

    3 of 3 fauna underpasses installed

    3.8km of 4.4km drains now in place

    6 of 7 noise walls underway or complete

    Bridge construction progress Work on the bridge has made significant progress with all piers now built, and five segments launched across the Queanbeyan River to date. .

    An additional bridge segment is expected to be launched each month until all nine segments are in place. The full bridge span is expected to connect to the southern side of the Queanbeyan River early next year.

    Road construction and earthworkWork is well underway to build the road pavement layers.

    Bulk earthworks for the project are now substantially complete.

    Completed noise wall on existing Ellerton Drive

    Work progressing on upgrade of existing Ellerton Drive

    Landscaping workLandscaping is underway to reduce dust generated on site with grass and mulch laid on embankments where work has been completed. Tree and shrub planting will start closer to the end of the project and will be regularly maintained.

    Noise wall constructionNoise walls on existing Ellerton Drive and near Taylor Place have been completed.

    Construction of noise walls in Fairlane Estate near the Queanbeyan River is more than 50 per cent complete. Work started near the river and will progress towards Old Cooma Road.

    Supporting the local community A donation of large rocks from the Ellerton Drive site was made to the Royalla Commons for use in landscaping for the community space.

    “The Royalla Common Management Committee thanks the Ellerton Drive project team for their generous donation and delivery of rocks to the Common. The rocks are a great addition to the landscape development of the Community Hall and car park. The donated rocks reflect the rural character of the hall and enhance the landscape development of the Common.”

    Upgrade of existing Ellerton DrivePavement upgrade work on the existing section of Ellerton Drive started in May and is expected to be completed in late September, weather permitting.
