Purpose of this document This document aims to outline the eLoadsheet.net Weight and Balance system technical information. The document contains a system description and a description of the technical infrastructure. This document is aimed to increase the general understanding of the system inner workings. The target audience for this document is weight and balance engineers and IT personnel supporting or evaluating the system.

General eLoadsheet.net is an on-line weight and balance system for aircraft that offers the latest in loadsheet production systems available to airlines and handling agents. eLoadsheet is a web based system. Therefore, eLoadsheet works over the internet using a standard web browser and is accessible from anywhere where there is an internet connection. eLoadsheet is able to handle most if not all aircraft. All w&b (weight and balance) data is stored in a centralized database. The database format closely mirrors the IATA AHM560 (formally AHM050) format thus making the insertion of w&b a breeze for a weight and balance engineer. For airlines / handling agents that do not have this expertise in-house, Flyware are more than willing to handle the insertion and maintenance of the w&b data. eLoadsheet consist of two systems: eLoadsheet Weight and Balance: For creating loadsheets for aircraft and eLoadsheet Administrator: For inserting / updating aircraft w&b data. The system has two kinds of users: normal users and company administrators. These two kinds have different privileges. The normal users can create new loadsheet and open existing ones. The company administrator has additional privileges and can change the aircraft data and manage the company users using the eLoadsheet Administrator.

eLoadsheet Technical infrastructure eLoadsheet is build on top of Microsoft .Net Framework. It uses both VB and C# programming languages. The system is designed and built using open standards such as XML and Soap. This fact allows the system to interface to other systems with great ease. The design method used is Microsoft DNA (distributed interNet applications) which calls for the separation of User interface from both Business rules and Database layer thus, making the task of adapting and integrating the system a viable one.

eLoadsheet Hardware infrastructure The eLoadsheet database is run on the Microsoft SQL server. The system is run in a WEB farm (clusters of web servers) designed to provide 99.999% of update on an annual average (less than 32 seconds of annual downtime). Requirement for uptime of information systems are usually around 99.5% which we meet with ease. At the time of writing the WEB farm contains two Windows 2003 Servers.

Running: IIS6.0,.Net Framework The two servers are set up in a Windows Load Balancing cluster thus

eliminating any single point failure.

The WEB farm will be enlarged as necessary as load increases

eLoadsheet Security The access to eLoadsheet is protected by usernames and password. We enforce a password policy disallowing short password and password very easy to break. The access to the eLoadsheet servers is protected by a firewall. We are using Cisco 7200 to mask all unwanted access to servers with IP filtering. To secure all data flowing to and from the system we use 128 Bit Secure Socket Layer encryption certified by Versign to guarantee secure transfer of data from client to server. This encryption method is regarded as the strongest encryption used in ecommerce.

eLoadsheet Weight and Balance The eLoadsheet Weight and Balance part of the system is used for creating the actual loadsheets. In this chapter you will find a brief explanation on how to create a new loadsheet and generally how to operate the eLoadsheet Weight and Balance system. The instructions below are oriented for eLoadsheet operating in a non-check in system integrated mode. eLoadsheet can interface to a third-party check in system enabling eLoadsheet to receive pax and baggage information automatically. To start the eLoadsheet weight and balance go to: www.eloadsheet.net which will display the login page to eLoadsheet.

Select a version of the aircraft from the Version combo box, if version information is available for the selected aircraft it will be displayed in a field just below the Version combo box. Select a crew combination from the Crew combo box. Normally the crew combination is designated like below, for example 2/5 means, 2 pilots in cockpit and 5 flight attendants. From the Pax constants combo box you can select which weight constants are to be used to calculate the total weight of the passengers. The Pantry code combo box might be empty for the selected aircraft, if so that aircraft does not let you choose what kind of catering configuration is used. Clicking the Create button will create the loadsheet. After a loadsheet has been created you will see the Fuel page in the main window.

Registration

When you have created an aircraft type you must give it registration. Note that you can have many registrations under the same aircraft type. Choose your aircraft type. Put in the new registration under A/C Reg:. Add the weight in Add weight column and add index/moment in the Add Index/Moment column. Here it is necessary to know if you have specified any reference weight and index before. Best is to have reference weight and index at 0 and useAdd weight and Add Index/Moment column to adjust. Then you choose which activation status you want for this aircraft registration. Finally you can if you prefer to have some data version date or number. It keeps track of all changes and makes it easier to find when last update was made. *Tip: It is good to know when you are working with aircraft you can choose activation status Active for Admin only then you alone can see this aircraft.

Stab trim

Types!Registration!Version!Cabin Layout!Cargo holds!Cumulative Limits!Cumulative Limits 2!Crew!Pantry!Fuel!Stab trim This section allows you to set the stabilizer trim for each of your aircraft types. First, choose your type, then give your flap setting value under Flap setting. Then describe its Mac value, followed by Weight and the exact Stab setting. *Tip: You have to have a stab trim table published by the aircraft manufacturer to complete this. If stab trim is different between flap settings it is good to be able to specify for each flap setting. This is often not possible in other systems.
