Letters home Dear Mom and Dad, “Listen to Jesus” has been our theme for our journey through lent. We have heard God say, “This is my Son listen to him” on the mount of transfiguration. We have learned that we can pray and listen to God’s response, and that God listens to our requests and prayers. We heard the warning provided by Jesus about the interior of our hearts, which need cleansed, more importantly, than the outward appearance of righteousness. We are well on our journey to Jerusalem. There, Jesus will confront the powers of this world and they will not respond favorably to this Jewish rabbi. By Easter, we will see Him for who He truly is - the Messiah, the Son of the living God! At Delphi UMC, listening to God fulfills our vision to love enough. God, working through us, by His power and might, is what makes it enough. God’s love revealed in the life, suffering, death, and resurrection of Jesus, empowers the ministries and the direction of this church. God loves enough to make a way, while we are still sinners, so we can all feast at His heavenly banquet table. Moreover, all of us need to come to the banquet table and find God’s grace and love. I am excited for our Easter services. During Holy Week, we will welcome

Jesus to Jerusalem on Palm Sunday, Journey with him to the upper

room on Maundy Thursday, and ponder the depth of our Sin on Good

Friday, with the Holy vigil on Saturday causing introspection to our lives.

All awaiting the joy of the resurrection on Easter Sunday. I cannot wait

and it is going to be grand.

Peace, Pastor Todd

Spring—a time of new birth and re-birth. A time to see the long, cold days of Winter disappear and the longer, warmer days welcomed in. Just as the new buds on the trees, with their flowers yet to be or leaves that will provide shade from the warm, summer sun, we are given a chance for a new start. Every single day! None of us will ever be the “perfect” Christian. Even though we try our best to live as Jesus did, we fall short. We will never measure up to the standards He set for us. So why even try? Why work so hard, doing what is right, what is true, what is kind, what is decent, what is in love? WHY??? It’s hard work, that’s for sure. It would be easier to take short cuts along life’s paths, to go along with the crowd and not make waves. It’s hard to stand off to the side, saying NO to injustice, NO to cruelty, NO to apathy, NO to accepting the new “normal” simply because “everyone is doing it,” NO to everything that is insulting and demeaning to our Heavenly Father. So again, why?? The answer, for me, is one word—HOPE! Hope for an eternal peace with my creator, my heavenly Father, my Savior, Jesus Christ. Jesus loved us so much, two thousand years before we were even born, that He was willing to lay down His life for us, so we might have hope of that eternal life. Jesus sacrificed a perfect life in Heaven to save each of us from our sins. He gave us Hope and a future that is more than just this life on earth. With Easter, we see the fulfillment of Jesus’ commitment to us, His promise to each person who seeks Him, that we have Hope and a future brighter than any light we can even imagine. Happy Easter. Ruth Miller

Where God’s Power Can Take You!

I can’t say thank you enough for all the people that helped in some way to make the Father/Daughter Dance a special night to remember. We had 343 dads and daughters attend this year’s dance. There were many people who helped in so many different ways for this huge event. Thank you to all who helped on the work nights with the many tasks of cutting, folding, painting, doing name cards and putting together the table décor. Thank you to my daughters who helped in designing the announcements, tickets and photo holders. Thank you to those who gave many hours with the set-up by putting up back drops, building the Eiffel Tower, constructing windows and awning, hanging silhouettes and curtains, and setting tables. Another huge thank you to those making 800 cupcakes, cooking and helping in the kitchen, all those serving, taking pictures, putting together the slideshow, running the limo rides, those holding umbrellas over heads in the cold rain, and picking up people with the church bus in the parking lot. Thank you to those who helped with clean-up and so much more. A huge thank you goes out to my husband for all he does. It is so wonderful to have these amazing people willing to help and serve by using their talents in so many different ways. Thank you to ALL of you so very much for your servant hearts. I appreciate each and every one of you. Merci, Nina German

Prayer Ministry

Listening to Jesus

Are you being faithful to your Lenten promise of Fasting (giving up something) and Praying for bringing others in to the

Kingdom?

Pastor Todd’s Lenten messages have been about “Listening to Jesus,” teaching us to spend time with Him and to listen to His plans for our lives. God’s plans for us, as believers, has always been to bring Him

glory through the advancement of His Kingdom.

To be aligned with His plan, we must spend time with Him and build a close relationship with Him. We don’t really have to tell Him what is on our heart, because He already knows what we need. When we spend

time with Him in prayer and reading His Word, we begin to listen for His voice. We don’t do all the talking and asking and our relationship with

Him grows closer. Silence in our prayer time is good, practice it and learn to be more in tune to hear the voice of Jesus.

Show up for your quiet time with God, because He will always be

waiting for you. Don’t disappoint Him!

Reminder: ALWAYS put on you “Armor of God” so you can be ready for the tasks of the day.
