“I planned to go to university when I first arrived in Australia,

but I had not decided which university I would study at. ELS/

Sydney has many direct-entry pathways to universities, so the

college was a good choice for me.

The fast progress I made with my English was the result of

my teachers. The General English teachers made learning

the language so much fun that they teach students to love

English!

The AE3 and AE4 courses prepared me very well for university.

I am now studying at the University of Wollongong’s Sydney

Business School. My major is Master of Science (Logistics)."

Yoshiaki, JAPANAcademic Pathway – University of Wollongong Sydney Business School ELS Universal English College, Sydney

“I had previously studied at ELS Centres in New York, so I knew

the ELS quality was high. The location in the centre of Sydney is

very convenient. I found the teachers are strict at ELS Universal

English College, which is a reason I would recommend the

college. I have discovered that Sydney is a great city. Australian

people are open-minded and friendly. In addition, Sydney is

very multicultural, and with new people coming to live all the

time, it is very dynamic."

“The Academic English course at ELS/Sydney was very

intensive and challenging, but we made a huge improvement

in our English skills in such a short period of time. The course

was very, very useful and has given us more confidence in

starting our university studies.”

“I chose to study at ELS/Sydney because the college has a

pathway to Macquarie University. The Academic English

program at ELS/Sydney is amazing. The teachers are fantastic

because they support the students in developing the skills

required for further study at university. Many students consider

the teachers to be strict, but I found their knowledge and

experience very helpful. The teachers support the students in

developing the skills required for further study at university.

I am very pleased to have earned a scholarship for my

postgraduate studies in Accounting at Macquarie University.”

“This year I came to ELS/Sydney for the second time for my

second Junior Holiday English course. I really loved this

program; you get to meet lots of people from different places

around the world. The classes are lots of fun, and most

importantly, you learn English too!

I stayed with a homestay family and they were great. They

looked after me so well that I felt like I was one of their own

children.

I love Sydney and I hope to come back to study at university

when I finish school in Spain.”

Florencia, SPAIN Junior Holiday English ELS Universal English College, Sydney

“I chose to study at ELS Universal English College because

in Vietnam I heard about the quality of the college and its

excellent Academic English program. The college also has

a direct-entry pathway to Le Cordon Bleu, where I started

my undergraduate degree in February 2013. I have found

Academic English to be exciting. I appreciated the focus on

developing learning strategies and how important this will be

for my further study in Australia. I had to study hard, but my

English skills are getting stronger, which is great. My teachers

were fantastic!”

“I really enjoyed studying at ELS. The teachers were so kind,

and they always gave me good suggestions and advice. It

was easy for me to pay attention in class because the lessons

were so interesting. There were many friendly students on

the MSIT campus, so I had good opportunities to meet young

Australians. I hope I can study at ELS/Brisbane again one day.”

Australian high school.

HSP combines intensive English language study to improve

your listening, speaking, reading and writing skills. At higher

levels we include English for specific Australian high school

subjects, such as Mathematics, Science, Human Society,

Personal Development and Health, and Computer Studies.

To build your confidence and help you adapt to life in your

new high school, we also cover Australian study methods and

culture as well as an introduction to the Australian high school

system. Regular student progress reports are provided to

parents and caregivers.

Outside the classroom, the course features educational and

cultural excursions as well as a structured sports program.

The place you call home while studying with ELS plays a very important part in your experience of living abroad.

Because every student has his or her own needs and preferences, we offer options to ensure that you feel

comfortable and safe.

HOMESTAYS – SYDNEY AND BRISBANE

Both ELS Centres in Australia offer homestay accommodation

with English-speaking host families, carefully selected and

routinely inspected to ensure they provide a pleasant and

safe environment for their student guests. Some students find

that living with a host family helps them learn English faster,

while experiencing Australian customs and culture firsthand.

Homestay students often develop cherished relationships with

their hosts that can last a lifetime.

You will have your own fully furnished room. In Sydney,

homestay includes breakfast and dinner Monday to Friday and

all meals on weekends. In Brisbane, three meals per day are

provided if requested.

Our full-time accommodation staff in Sydney ensure that your

stay provides a memorable experience.

LOVE WHERE YOU LIVE.

“We have been associated with ELS/Sydney for 16 years, and

during these years we have hosted a great number of students

from all over the world and it is always a pleasure to share their

culture and traditions. At the same time we are very proud

to show them the beautiful sites offered by Sydney as well

as taking them to an AFL match or an Aussie barbecue and

teaching them the art of eating our national meat pie.”

Francoise and Colin, SYDNEY

“I would like to recommend my homestay family to everyone.

They were always kind, helped me with everything that I

wanted to know about the city or Australia and especially they

always corrected me when I spoke English with them, which

improved my English a lot. I think I was very lucky to be picked

for this family.”

YOU MAY BE FAR FROM HOME, BUT YOU WILL NEVER BE ALONE

Australia is the third most popular destination for international

students in the world, despite its relatively small population.

You’ll meet people like yourself from all over the world and

you’ll find that Australians are remarkably easy to make

friends with. The friends you make in Australia will remain

your friends for life.

STUDENTS AGREE: IT’S A WONDERFUL LIFE

Study in a place that works for you: ELS Australia is based

in two of the best cities in the world for international

students, in terms of diversity, affordability, quality of life

and employment.

SYDNEY AND BRISBANE ARE PROVEN INCUBATORS OF SUCCESS

There are now more than 2.5 million former international

students who have gone on to make a difference to the

world after studying in Australia. Penicillin, in vitro fertilisation,

ultrasound, Wi-Fi, the Bionic Ear, the heart pacemaker, solar

hot water, the cervical cancer vaccine and the “Black Box” flight

recorders all were conceived by graduates of the Australian

higher education system.

You can be one of them!
