SPEAKERS  PROFILES    

   

   

Vinita  Dawra  Nangia   is  a  Senior  Editor  with  The  Times  of   India.  She  has  a  weekly  

column   ‘O-­‐zone’   in   the   TOI   Sunday   supplemet,   Times   Life.   Her   column   and   blog  

reflect  her   incisive  views  into  the  world  around,  offering  newer  ways  of   looking  at  

life,  people  and  the  situations  they  find  themselves  in.  Vinita  has  also  authored  two  

books,  It’s  Your  Life:  Reflections  on  Contemporary  Living  &  Relationships  (2012)  and  

Love  is  Always  Right  and  Other  Musings  (2015).

Shruti  Nada  Poddar  is  a  musician,  a  healer,  a  cultural  exponent  and  educationist,  as  

well   as   a   leading   practitioner   of   indigenous   knowledge   systems.   She   is  

internationally   recognized   as   a   sound   healer   and   has   worked   with   indigenous  

knowledge  and  sonic  systems  for  healing  and  curing  various  health  conditions.  She  

is  the  pioneer  of  the  vibration  and  sound  healing  ecosystem  called  Nada  Vibronics.  

Shruti’s   audio   CDs,   healing   methods   and   music   are   now   used   for   curing   various  

health  conditions  internationally.  

 

She   founded   the   Shruti   Foundation   in   2006,   a   charitable   trust   that   has   worked  

towards  transformative  learning  and  education  paradigms,  teacher  training  and  the  

importance  of  indigenous  and  traditional  knowledge  systems  for  the  resurgence  and  

evolution   of   a   value-­‐   based   world.   Shruti   has   recently   been   appointed   as  

Chairperson  of  PHDCCI,  Rajasthan.

Rakesh  Kapoor   is   the   researcher,  writer,   editor   and   founder-­‐managing   trustee  of  

Alternative  Futures,  a  development  research  and  communication  group  working  on  

creative  and  meaningful  policy,  social  and  technological  alternatives  and  innovations  

for  development  and  social  change.  

 

Rakesh  works  on  the  interface  of  science,  technology,  society  and  the  future,  and  on  

issues  of  sustainable  development.  He  is  Consulting  Editor  of  Futures:  the  journal  of  

policy,  planning  and  futures  studies.

Dipti   Nath   is   Associate   Professor   in   the  Department   of   English   at   Lady   Shri   Ram  

College   for  Women,  Delhi  University,  where   she   has   been   teaching   for   the   last   16  

years.   She  holds  an  M.Phil   from   the  University  of  Delhi   and  her  areas  of   academic  

interest   include  Visuality,  Gender  Studies  and  Popular  Culture.  Her  research  spans  

the  field  of  Indian  Poetry  in  English,  specifically  the  writings  of  Indian  women  poets.  

She   teaches   Popular   Fiction,   Contemporary   Literature,   British   Romanticism   and  

Jacobean  Drama.  

 

She  has  written  on  the  politics  of  language  in  Salman  Rushdie’s  Midnight’s  Children  

as   part   of   the   collection   Rushdie   the   Novelist:   From   Grimus   to   the   Enchantress   of  

Florence.   Ms.   Nath   has   also   written   on   Postcolonial   Literature   and   Questions   of  

Form.   Because   of   her   abiding   passion   for   sports   and   involvement   in   it,   she   also  

serves   on   the   Advisory   Board   of   Anglian   Medal   Hunt   Company,   a   not-­‐for-­‐profit  

venture  that  supports  potential  Olympic  medal-­‐winners.
