About 5 years ago, the Father spoke to me through various scriptures about His desire and plan for expansion in our ministry. In short, we are to plan for and expect growth. Each change is preparing us for a greater future. However, this isn’t the end. The theme ‘Business As Usual’ continues to apply to our organization as we move forward. ‘BUSINESS AS USUAL’ IS NO LONGER ENOUGH – PART 2BY: LARRY MOORE, EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

In the last edition of UP!, I wrote about a number of areas the Canadian church needs to change if our students are to become effective disciples of Christ. In this second installment, I want to address how United Youth Outreach is also changing to meet this need.

About 5 years ago, the Father spoke to me through various scriptures about His desire and plan for expansion in our ministry. In short, we are to plan for and expect growth. BACK HOME...KIND OFBY: GREG DENIE, LEGACY ONE

Ohh my goodness, what an amazing tour we have just had! Seriously, thank you for praying with and for us on this last tour to Victoria in May. We had the opportunity to serve in 5 schools, 2 churches and at a massive youth conference, sharing the love of Christ to over 10,000 people in the process.

In Victoria, we partnered with Youth For Christ (YFC) to help us get into schools. Two of the four schools were currently hosting YFC programs with workers ministering to the youth. The other two high schools were previously hostile towards Christianity and not open to partnering with or allowing YFC into their school. Government agencies working with youth in Victoria were absolutely shocked to hear that YFC had gotten us into these schools. This was a huge win for YFC and has opened up the conversation for them to run programs in these schools next year. The two schools host over 2400 students. All glory to God for allowing our team to be used as a catalyst to bring amazing ministry opportunities to those schools.

At the end of our 5 days in Victoria we were part of a city-wide youth outreach event. Legacy One performed and I (Greg), shared Gospel at the end of the night. We saw many students from our visit to the schools come to the event. A handful of students gave their lives to Jesus! Praise God.

The world is in a very desperate and hurting state. Life is not getting easier for young people. They find themselves in a society which does not understand true love, true purpose, or true peace. The struggles these young people are facing are not light and easy. They cannot be brushed under a rug and forgotten about. Yet many have nowhere to turn for honest answers. Through our continued passion and desire to influence and be a lighthouse for these young people, Legacy One is pointing them to the love and grace of Christ.

We could not do this without you!!! Thank you so much for your prayers and support.

GOING THE DISTANCEBY: BEN KOSTAMO, LOVE ON FIRE

Five years ago, in 2012, we opened our first Youth Drop-in by partnering with Living Springs Church and Westview Baptist Church in Northwest Calgary. We have seen over 500 youth pass through our various doors since then. Three of our Drop-ins are partnerships with other churches; two Drop-ins are independent. One independent Drop-in, now closed, presented fruit with good leaders and a few students who are still with us in other programs today. Our current programs, a partnership with Lighthouse Church, and our own leased space out of Airdrie Koinonia Christian School, are both growing and have proven fruitful.

The Lord has been so faithful to us. He has continued to bring us back to our core vision, faithfully providing and guiding us in this journey. He never fails to show up and lets us know when we have missed Him.

We have a great team of staff, leaders, interns and volunteers who faithfully pray and build connections with youth in a fun, safe, friendly and inclusive environment.

Many of our interns have sacrificed financially to serve with us. Our volunteers consist of local area young adults who are either studying or beginning their careers or ministries. We also have some parents and mature adults who serve faithfully to facilitate the ministry. Their faithfulness allows us to present Jesus to many unreached youth through relationship and through preaching the Word.

Flowing naturally from the Drop-ins, Love on Fire is training disciples. In the past two years, we have established a monthly Super Chapel and small discipleship groups, where youth are part of a body of believers in their own context. We have seen the Lord answer prayers, set up divine appointments, and bring about several healings and salvations. We have seen a deepening of discipleship and individual outreach. We celebrate the people who make these outreaches and disciple-making communities successful. Thank you team for such an amazing job!

THE INSIDE REPORTBY: LEVI SWITZER, THE INSIDE

We are in the midst of an amazing growth period. This time last year The Inside was running one weekly program in Cochrane, AB and a few trips throughout the year. Through the Lord’s provision of leaders, funding, buildings, resources and connections with youth, we have had a full winter indoors in a donated warehouse space and are now directing two programs consecutively in Airdrie and Cochrane as well as a once a monthly program in North Calgary. We are reaching more youth than ever on a regular basis and our leadership team is growing! Our weekly expenses include travel, meals for kids, prizes and supplies to help our meal prep and programs run smoothly.

The conversations we have had with youth this year have been hard, hearing about personal struggles involving family and home life. These youth are facing issues of suicide, abuse, abandonment and rejection. We get opportunities to pray with the youth, talk with them, help them experience the Lord’s joy and peace, and when the timing is right, to share the gospel.

We are going on our big camping trip in a few weeks. Be praying for us as a team to hear the Lord’s heart and for the youth to find the peace they are looking for. We trust Him.

Thank you so much for your generous donations both financially and in time spent. Most importantly, thank you for your prayers—God has shown up in massive ways because we have stood together and asked Him. Thank You.
