EMBLETON BAY COLLECTION OVERVIEW

Sanderson launches Embleton Bay, an elegant collection of timeless printed fabrics, weaves and wallpapers.

Step away from the stresses of everyday living and take a moment to contemplate the horizon, where the seemingly endless sea meets the safety of the shore.

Inspired by hand-drawn sketches of the elements that make up an idyllic hideaway, Embleton Bay collection captures the essence of peace and serenity found at the ocean’s edge and embodies the effortless harmony of nature found along the vast and varied coastline of the British Isles.

Accurate depictions of wading birds, speckled eggs, dune hares, dragonflies and puffins sit beside woven textures inspired by receding shores, the half-light of sea mists and fine grains of sand.

Faithful interpretations of seed heads, coastal grasses and hedgerow f lora and fauna are layered alongside hand-drawn harbour views of tethered boats, country cottages and large, expansive skies. Modern toiles and trailing motifs, both digitally and traditionally printed, are accompanied by fine embroideries, weaves and broad linen stripes. Gentle mica finishes, matt printing techniques and

subtle shimmering yarns work seamlessly together to recreate the understated textures and finishes found in the natural world, and a neutral colour palette of Driftwood, Tidewater Blue and River Mist – to name but a few - is punctuated by lively colours including Claret, Sienna and Mustard Seed. Capturing the essence of this calming wilderness, sketchbook drawings and watercolours

are translated into a range of nine printed fabrics, two embroideries, seven weaves and 10 wallpaper designs to create an atmospheric and enchanting collection.

“I was inspired by the rugged, wild coastline of the North East. I relish the ever-changing yet calming and timeless nature of the surroundings and wanted to interpret them in a collection that would

The PrintsDune Hares: relax in amongst the shoreline grasses, taking a moment to rest in the shade. This digitally-printed design encapsulates the mood of the entire collection and is available in one colourway. Printed on a cotton-linen mix, it is suitable for upholstery, drapes and accessories.

Embleton: creates a picture of exuberant wind-swept poppies in abundant full bloom and was originally created by tearing tissue paper to replicate the translucent vivacity of poppy petals overlapping in the sun. Traditionally printed, this design is available in two colourways, and is one of two poppy designs, intended to either work together or successfully alone. Suitable for upholstery, drapes and accessories.

Estuary Birds: depicts waders, oyster catcher, curlew and dunlin basking in the gentle sun in an all-over scenic design, which is available printed on either a 100% cotton, suitable for upholstery, drapes and accessories, or a 100% scoured linen ground, suitable for drapes and accessories

Nest Egg: features a charming, playful depiction of the mottled eggs of robins, tree swallows, blackbirds and crossbills carefully placed in grid formation. The design is available in two colourways, printed on a cotton-linen mix and suitable for upholstery, drapes and accessories.

Poppy Pods: is the second of the poppy designs and features carefully watercolour-painted poppy pods that are beginning to scatter their seeds, positioned in an informal horizontal repeat and available in two colourways. Suitable for upholstery, drapes and accessories.

Sea Houses: is a modern version of a toile that tells the story of a journey down winding country lanes to the harbour, past knotted trees, quaint cottages and tethered boats – and finally looking out to sea with puffins basking on faraway rocks. Printed on 100% cotton, available in one colourway and suitable for upholstery, drapes and accessories.

Summer Harvest is a gentle, trailing design and replicates the profusion of f lora and fauna found in hedgerows. Painterly depictions of Chinese lanterns, fronds of corn, seedpods, wild f lowers and honesty are placed in three trails across the width of the fabric. The fabric is available in three colourways, printed on a cotton-linen mix and suitable for upholstery, drapes and accessories.

Thistle Garden: portrays the strong thistle shape alongside the delicate and fragile nature of honesty seed-pods. Through the realistic watercolour observations, the juxtaposition between the two plants highlights the variety found in the natural world and is one of the boldest designs in the collection. Available in three colourways, with one produced in 100% linen and suitable for drapes and accessories and the other two colourways produced in a cotton-linen mix and suitable for drapes and accessories only.

Wild Angelica: is a finely drawn and painted depiction of wild f lowers. Taken directly from the designer’s sketchbook and originally produced in ink and watercolour, it comprises a mix of carefully-placed cow parsley and clover interspersed with dragonflies darting through the foliage. Available in one colourway and suitable for upholstery, drapes and accessories.

EMBLETON BAY FABRICS

The EmbroideriesBelsay: features indulgent, shimmering sprays of organic grasses in a gently undulating stripe embroidered on a linen-mix ground in antiqued gold and pewter, to create a subtle contrast between finishes. Available in one colourway and suitable for drapes only.

Pressed Flowers: features delicate pressed f lowers intricately embroidered and carefully placed on to a wide horizontal stripe – the perfect contemporary drape for the modern country home. Available in three colourways.

The WeavesSeashore: is an abstract woven design reminiscent of the tidemarks left on the sand when the sea recedes. The design is produced on a jacquard loom with a touch of wool for a luxurious feel. Suitable for drapes and upholstery, the design is available in two colourways.

Sycamore: is an organic, abstract interpretation of a Sycamore leaf woven on a jacquard loom. It is suitable for drapes and available in three colourways.

Kielder Stripe: is a large-scale, vertical block stripe weave emulating the classic coastal look. This decorating classic, woven in high quality linen, works harmoniously across the collection and is available in two colourways. The design is produced in 100% linen and suitable for drapes and accessories.

EMBLETON BAY WALLPAPERSAll Embleton Bay wallpapers are paste the wall for ease of hanging. Comprising 10 designs in total of which Dune Hares, Estuary Birds, Nest Egg, Seahouses and Summer Harvest are reminiscent of the printed fabrics.

Alnwick Logs: inspired by the irresistible abstract pattern of carefully drawn log ends as

seen in a log pile, the motifs have been placed on a plain mica or matt printed ground. Four colourways are available, including the truly contemporary Lacquer Black colourway.

Bamburgh Sky: captures the vast, changeable skies and undulating cloud formations of the seascape – setting the contemplative mood for a day buffeted by the elements. Created by hand-painted washes of watercolour, this design is available in three colourways.

Dune Hares: is available in two colourway with a matt/mica printing treatment to add to the visual intrigue.

Farne Grasses: features long, elegant, up-scaled sketchbook studies of delicate grasses and wild f lowers placed in their own space on the paper. Available in three colourways.

Little Thistles: displays line-drawn botanical sketches as if torn from a book and then arranged in a grid format with casually frayed edges to create an informal display of f lora and fauna favourites. Available in three colourways.

Nest Egg: features a charming, playful depiction of the mottled eggs of robins, tree swallows, blackbirds and crossbills carefully placed in grid formation. Originally painted in watercolour, mica has been used over some of the eggs to replicate the distinctive sheen of egg enamel, and is available in five colourways.

Sea Houses: wallpaper is pared-down version of the fabric by the same name and is available in three colourways.

Summer Harvest: wallpaper is available in four colourways, with one design featuring a subtle mica ground.

Sycamore Trail: features overlapping Sycamore seed pods gently drifting to the ground in a matt finish on a weather-worn mica ground, and is available in three colourways.

EMBLETON BAY WEAVES Curlew: is a semi-plain weave produced with f lecks of space-dyed yarn. The effect is reminiscent of grains of sand in a scattered formation. This design is available in five colourways and suitable for upholstery, drapes and accessories.

Dune: is an informal, small-scale herringbone produced with a tactile mixture of yarns creating a versatile, classic design. Available in five colourways and suitable for upholstery, drapes and accessories.

Misty Haze: is an accurate depiction of sea mist as it hovers on the horizon and masks the late summer sun. This horizontal, deconstructed and graduated stripe is produced on a jacquard loom and is available in five colourways. Suitable for upholstery, drapes and accessories.

Spindlestone: is a textural plain with vertical woven stitches, taking its inspiration from the fissures in ancient stones found along the coastline. Available in ten colourways and suitable for upholstery, drapes and accessories.
