EMEA COLLEGE OF ARTS AND SCIENCE COLLEGE UNION REPORT 2014-19 The college union election was held as per the guidelines issued by the University of Calicut in strict adherence to Lyngthau Committee report. The following students were elected to the college union by secret ballot system based on simple majority system. 2014-19 The college union election was held as per the guidelines issued by the

College Union of EMEA College is instrumental in providing the students to get interacted with mass media.

For example, a Radio Jockey programme was conducted in 2014-15 on the college

campus in association with Radio Mango 91.9.

Similarly, College Union invited Asianet team to conduct Campus Color Programme.

EMEA became the first campus in district of Malappuram hosting campus colors

programme. Students interestingly participated in various events and competitions.

College Union produced a Musical video named ‘Campus Kolus”. Alibava,

entrepreneur sponsored the programme.

VODA PHONE STUDENT WELFARE: Vodafone Student Welfare SIM Card brought to the

College by the College Union.

MEDIA CAMPUS CARAVON: Campus Caravan of Madhyamam Newspaper organized by

College Union at Mahagani Park.

In 2017-18 TV REALITY GAME SHOW; Udan Panam’ a Mazhavil Manorama

The college union extended whole hearted support in hosting following events.

College union took the initiative to organize the run kerala run campaign as

part of 35th national games

4. SUPPORT TO NAAC -Cycle 2

College union played a pivotal role in the second cycle NAAC accreditation works.

5. DAY OBSERVATIONS

World Food Day was observed with differently abled students at Buds

Special School, Kondotti , College Union served a variety of foods and

programs.

NON VIOLENCE DAY QUIZ COMPETITION: On October 2, the College Union

conducted a Quiz Competitions on non-violence to commemorate Mahatma

Gandhi.

World Human Rights Day: College Union observed World Human Rights day

with a variety of prgorammes on 10 December 2016

XMAS, NEW YEAR CELEBRATIONS : the Christmas and New Year Celebrations

were organized under the auspices of the College Union.

Women's Day Program during the year 2016-17 was iInaugurated by the

Famous eloquent Hari Priya. P. Surendran released the Book of Mothers &

Martyrs of the famous author, Mujeeb Jaihun’s

Quiz Competitions was organized , 1 November 2017

An Essay Competitions was held on 2 October 2018

6. ONAM FESTIVALS

As in the previous year, College Union celebrated Onam, the national festival of Kerala with

variety competitions and cultural programmes.

7. SUPPORTS TO SPORTS AND GAMES

College union extended unconditional support to sports and games. It has a custom of

organizing reception to the college teams when they win zonal, inter zonal, state level or

national level meets and matches.

8. FINE ARTS ACTIVITES

Fine arts activities are another area where college union is active. This includes training

programmes,( for selected art forms like Nadanpattu, Drama, Daffmuttu, Kolkkali, Oppana,

and Orchestra), college level fine arts competitions, c- zone competitions and inter zone

competitions .

Food Fest is an annual programme organized by college union. it is held as competition item

among various departments.

Food fest in the year 2016-17 was unique because food prepared by the students in connection with the festival was given to Pulikkal Blind Charity Trust

The Food Fest for the year 2017-18 was held on 14 Feb 2018.

10. SPORTS DAY

33rd Sports Day under the aegis of the College Union was inaugurated by Mohammed Farhan, Vice-Captain of Indian Blind Cricket Team.

Anas Edathodika the famous Football Player inaugurated 34th Sports day.

35th College Union Sports Day was inaugurated by P.K .Shamsudheen, the District President of Sports Council. As part of Sports Day, the union organized a mini-marathon, from Tharayittal to Kummaniparamba

BLASTERS FANS RALLY; A Rally was organized by the Union as a token of

appreciation to the Kerala Blasters, the Kerala.

11. SOCIAL WORK

a) ADOPTING DIFFERENTLY ABLED: College Union extended material support to two differently abled students (Yunus and Majitha who hail from Calicut University.

FUND RAISING FOR DIALYSIS CENTER: College Union mobilized an amount of Rs 25000/- in favor of Dialysis Centre, Kondotti . Muhammad Ali Shihab Thangal, handed over the amount.

A HAND TO CHENNAI: College union actively participated in the Chennai Flood relief

campaign.

SBI BUDDY WALLET: College union organized a prgoramme to introduce State Bank of

India's mobile app as part of digital economy campaign.,

HELP TO ASHWINI: College union mobilized financial support to Ms. Ashwini, a student

of Government College, Mankada for her treatment fund.

BANK HELPDESK : In the wake of the demonetization , the college Union set up a Helpdesk

for customers at SBI branch Kondotti from November 8 onwards

SCHOLARSHIP HELPDESK: In the year 2016-17 , College union set up a Help Desk to help

students to get scholarship.

12. Grievance Redressed

PROTESTING FEE HIKES: In the year 2014-15, College Union protested against hike

in exam fees. In this connection, the Union passed a resolution and sent it to

Vice Chancellor, University of Calicut.

WATER PURIFYER: On request by the Union, the management installed an

additional Water Purifier in the main block.

RENOVATION PRAYER HALL: On request by the college Union the facilities in

ladies retiring room was upgraded

RENOVATION OF THE URINARY TRACT: College Union effectively articulated the

need for enhancing the number of urinals and as a result, the management and PTA

collectively constructed anew urinal block for men. The existing urinal facilities and

toilet were also upgraded.

13. MAPPILA ART TRAINING ASSISTANCE

The College Union extended support to students for getting training in Mappila Arts

at Moeen Kutty Vaidyar Academy.

14. MANUSCRIPT MAGAZINEs

College Union has been launching manuscript magazines by the associations working in

nine teaching departments.

15. COLLEGE DAY CELEBERATIONS

The 32nd College Day was inaugurated by Sree Subeesh, the famous

CineArtist. Vineesh Chelari was the Chief Guest of the programme. Principal

Dr. Muhammad Rafeeq and Union Secretary KM Ismail spoke. D 4 Dance

Team and selected students staged different cultural programms.

The 34nd

College Day was inaugurated by T. V. the Member of University of Calicut.

The activities of the most enthusiastic College Union were highly influential in student

affairs. Fulfilling the promise made, achieving what is to be achieved, and submitting

the 34th College Union Report to the audience.

The 35th College Day was inaugurated by Dr. K. Muhammad Basheer, the Vice

Chancellor Of University of Calicut

16. FIRST YEAR MEETS First meets are held once in a year. It is conducted various associations.

In 2017-18, a meeting of first-year students was organized .The programme was

inaugurated by E. K. Haneefa , advanced learners from different classes were

honored.

19 MEHANTHI FEST

In connection with Edh celebrations, the college union annually conducts a Mehanthi Fest.

20 . PG meets: Separate meeting of post graduate students is held under the leadership of college

union to welcome PG first year students. For example in 2015-16, union organized POSGRASA

INAGURATION: A get together of the PG students was held. Principal Muhammed Palengara

Inagurated. Union Chairman Presided over.

21. CAREER COUNSELING

MOTIVATION CLASS: College Union organized a motivation for UG students. Praveen

Chirayath, International led the session.

22. INUAUGURATION OF NEW PROJECTS (2015-16)

College union actively participated in the inauguration of new projects of the college; Shihab

Thangal Library and Research Center, Audio Vision Theater, Commerce Blocks and Canteen. Chief

Minister Sri Ommen Chandy, Industry minister P K Kunhalikkutty and others attended.
