Who is Google really?

• Started by trying to use math properties to convert WWW information into a measure of importance (rankings) for a given web page (Search Engine)

• By 1998 they had indexed 60 million pages• Competitors were Yahoo!, Excite.com, Lycos, MSN.com

• So in about 12 years they went from nothing to $192 billion
