This project is located at The Sea Ranch- a community located approximately 60 miles north of San Fransisco, CA stretching 10 miles along the Sonoma County coast. Many regulations and guidelines have been established for those wanting to build a home at The Sea Ranch. Included in these guidelines are the following:nature is predominating, rural setting, modest home size, simple exteriors, sense of com-munity, thoughtful aesthetics.

Project IThe objective of this project was to design a single fam-ily dwelling at The Sea Ranch while adhering to The Sea Ranch design guidelines.

Project IIThe objective of this project was to design 53 prefabricated housing units within a 20 acre lot, community center and transportation infrastructure while adhering to the design guidlines.

project twoproject oneThis prefab system is available in 6 different models ranging from 900 sq ft to 1700 sf. Each size is

available in either one level or one level with a loft. Each unit is ADA accessible providing a maximum ground slope to units at 12:1, ground level entrances and wheelchair accessible bathrooms with a walk in shower.

The units that have lofts provide a fi rst fl oor master bedroom while secondary sleeping is in the lofted space. Due to the modest size of each unit a cabinet system is used for the interior walls. Electric wiring runs through the walls and fl oors through chases pre drilled with in the SIP. Plumbing runs from the fl oor through the cabinets and to the fi xture. There is a common cabinet system in each unit that houses plumbing on each fl oor. The structural system exists within the SIPs and the glulam beam system. The radiant heating system will be installed on site after walls are assembled and subfl oor is installed.

There are many details involved in the process of wine making that take it to its fi nal product. The effort and specifi city is revealed through the fl avor and aroma of the wine. We experi-ence these on our tongue and in our nose. This relationship between taste and smell, nose and tongue creates an inter-dependence- without the two working together, the fl avor of the wine cannot be fully expe-rienced.

The scope of this project is to design a winery co-op in Depoe Bay, Oregon in which multiple individuals can create their own wine without having to pay for their own equipment. This requires proper refrigera-tion and temperature controls, grape crushing equipment, fer-menters, barrel room (s), Also incorporated into the design is a cafe, wine tasting area, and retail area.

The design is partially sub-terrain and uses northern light as opposed to southern light in order to keep the cellars cool with out using a lot of energy with air conditioning

The project is founded on the model of an agricultural cooperative. This cooperative will provide the equipment, machinery, space, support, and marketing platform needed to produce and market wine. Production will be split into 4 different tiers of operation based on how much wine is produced by one individual or group.

The building is organized by connecting and integrating three different space types: commercial, production, and busi-ness. These spaces are arranged in order that each entity can effectively operate separate as well as together.

The intent of this project is to design a passenger train station in the northeastern neighborhood of Bozeman, Montana, also know as the Mill District. At present, the mill district is primarily industrial with some commercial and residential. There is an urban renewel initiative in place with plans to upgrade the district.

“To this end the primary goal of the Mill District (Urban Village) is to provide a convenient safe area within which people can live and work that has the amenities typically found in a neighborhood or regional shopping center. A dynamic plan of offi ces, retail shops, restaurants, and entertainment venues creates a streetscape that is inviting for the resident that lives above one of the shops as well as the visitor to the region who stays for the day to enjoy the plazas and vest-pocket parks provided within the plan.” THINKTANK *As a class we have been challenged to use wood as our primary material due to the environmental consideration to use a local material.

the structure is the result of the conceptual phase of the project. the outcome is a three-member arch glulam span forming a lamella system on the outter, lower portion of the structure, connected by shear pins. as it reaches it’s height it is supported in both tension and compression with wood perlins. all spaning members are glulam beams connected together with a splice plate at the point of contrafl exure.

mechanicalthe mechanical system is comprised of an air hydronic system and radiant heating and cooling. the air hydronic system brings 100% fresh air into the interior spaces of the building. both of these systems are fed by a geothermal heatpump that signifi cantly reduces the delta t, thus reducing the amount of energy needed to heat and cool the building.

Glass art has become a new found passion of mine as I see glass as a form of tranquility and peace. Through experi-ments of my own and inspira-tion from today’s glass artists my fi nal was created. My experience includes fusing with bullseye sheetglass, frit, pow-der, stringers

These drawings come from a variety of my personal experiences. Some are from travels through Italy and Spain while others through the ghost towns of Montana. A couple of them are from sitting at home and some from my imagination. My ex-perience in Architecture school was my fi rst expe-rience with a disciplined form of drawing. While there I practiced observa-tion drawing, design draw-ing, water color, digital drawing, and line draw-ing.
