Employee Referral Policy Introduction At Direct Line Group, we’re on course to become the biggest retail general insurance brand in the UK – and we recognise that it’s our people who’ve got us here. That’s why we’re always on the lookout for more talented people, just like you, to come and join us. If you already work with us and have a friend, family member or ex-colleague who you think would fit right in with our new culture and values here’s how you can make that happen. Direct Line Group is committed to the fair treatment of applicants, our employees and users of our services – regardless of race, gender, religion, sexual orientation, age, physical/mental disability or offending background. All employees and suppliers involved in the recruitment process must be aware of the Resourcing and Selection Policy and their legal obligations.

1. Eligibility for referral bonus • All referrers must be current employees of Direct Line Group and all Refer a Friend applications must be made via our external careers website http://www.directlinegroupcareers.com. • Your friend must register your referral using the following ‘Refer a Friend’ process in order to be eligible for a referral bonus: 1. View our list of current vacancies on the external careers website 2. Forward the details of the relevant vacancy together with your Employee ID and work e-mail address to the individual you wish to refer 3. If the individual applies for the vacancy they should choose the source type as “Refer a Friend” and then enter your Employee ID and work email address, they will then be registered as your referral for that vacancy. Failure to provide the correct information may impact our ability to make any referral payment. • Direct Line Group will not accept claims for referral bonuses where this process is not followed. • Once your friend has successfully registered your referral you are eligible for a bonus if your referral commences employment in the specific vacancy they were referred for within 6 months following the date of the referral and remains employed, and not under notice of termination, on any relevant referral bonus payment date(s) (see

‘Referral bonus’ section below). • To receive bonus the referrer must also remain employed, and not under notice of termination, on any relevant referral bonus payment date(s). • By referring an individual you are agreeing to the terms and conditions of the Employee Referral Policy. • Direct Line Group reserves the right to modify or withdraw the policy at any time.

Employee Referral Policy 2. Key principles • Direct Line Group will conduct interviews with only those referred candidates who meet our required needs, and will extend employment offers only to those candidates who, in our opinion, are the most qualified, regardless of how the candidate came to our attention. If you wish, you can discuss the requirements of specific vacancies and the suitability of potential candidates with the recruiter prior to submission. • Where a candidate is not initially hired for the specific vacancy they were referred for, but a recruiter or hiring manager then considers them for another vacancy as a result of your referral, you will be eligible for any referral bonus offered for the other vacancy. It is at the discretion of each business area if a referral bonus should be offered for their vacancy . • There is no limit to the number of referrals you can make, and you will be awarded a referral bonus for each valid, successful referral. • Referrals of the same candidate by multiple employees will result in a bonus payment only to the first referral correctly registered through the Refer a Friend scheme. • A referral submitted via the Refer a Friend scheme, is valid for 6 months. o Should the candidate’s details be received within this period via an alternative source (e.g. a recruitment agency), we will endeavour to progress that candidate as your referral, where practical to do so. o Similarly, if a candidate is first introduced to Direct Line Group by an alternative source then they cannot be registered as a valid employee referral for 6 months. • If you are considering referring someone from your previous employer, please be aware you may be under a restrictive covenant to approach staff directly. If you suspect this, please consult your previous employment contract.

3. Exclusions • You cannot refer an existing employee of Direct Line Group under this scheme. • You cannot refer yourself under this scheme. If you wish to apply for a vacancy please follow the standard internal application process. • You cannot refer a candidate for a vacancy where you are the hiring manager, or where you have any involvement in the recruitment or interview and selection process. • Referrals are only acceptable where the referred candidate directly applies for a current Direct Line Group vacancy, selects “Refer a Friend” as the source type and enters the referrers Employee ID and work e-mail address. Applications submitted by the referrer on behalf of the referred candidate are not acceptable. • You will not receive a referral bonus for the referral of any candidates joining on a fixed term contract of less than 6 months or non-employees, e.g. self-employed contractors / candidates working through a 3rd party supplier on a temporary basis or employed and paid on a daily or hourly rate on a temporary basis. • A referral bonus will not be paid for a candidate whose CV has already been introduced to Direct Line Group by another means within the previous 6 months. This therefore excludes candidates who have been interviewed or employed by Direct Line Group at any time during the 6 months prior to the referral date. • Referrals cannot be made for any individual who has left Direct Line Group in the last 6 months. 4. Referral bonus • The level of bonus payment offered for any particular vacancy, plus the staging of bonus payments after any applicable qualifying periods, will be at the discretion of the recruiting business area. • The referral bonuses and staging terms offered by each business area are detailed on the ‘Refer a Friend’ web page. • The bonus will become due after the applicable qualifying period following the referred candidate’s joining date, provided both the candidate and referrer are still employed by Direct Line Group and not under notice of termination of employment (whether given or received) on the due payment date.

• A bonus payment will be made as part of the referrer’s regular monthly salary payment as soon as practicable following the relevant due payment date. As we must operate to agreed payroll cut-off dates, this bonus could be paid in up to the third regular monthly salary payment following the due payment date. • Applicable UK taxes and NI will be deducted from any bonus paid to the referrer.
