Employment Bulletin Issue No. 10 (New Format) March 2020 Universal Credit For February 2020, the total number of Universal Credit Claimants in Nottinghamshire is 29,820. This is broken up by 7,217 employed females, 9,914 unemployed females, 3,793 employed males and 8,896 unemployed males. Claimant Counts As of March 2020, the Claimant Count for the Nottinghamshire region is 20 lower than it was a month ago. For the City, this equates to 10,440 claimants, whilst the County has 13,035, which is made up of 7,605 males and 5,430 females. The claimant counts decreased in six Local Authority Districts in the region, over the month. The largest decrease was in Bassetlaw, which saw a fall of 60 individuals, equalling a change of -3.01%. Meanwhile, there was an increase of 15 individuals in Mansfield, or a rise of 0.65%. Across the Districts gender wise, Ashfield has the greatest number of claimants with 2,585. This is broken down by 1,070 females and 1,515 males. The lowest is Rushcliffe with 1,025 claimants, made up of 430 females and 595 males. As for the Parliamentary Constituencies, claimants decreased in seven of the eight during March. The largest decrease was in Bassetlaw, with saw a fall of 55 over the month, representing a 2.86%% decline. Compared to a year ago, the rates of change across Parliamentary Constituencies range from 2.18% in Bassetlaw, to 41.94% in Rushcliffe. The average rate of change across all eight areas now stands at 23.39%. Additionally, against the previous month, three of the four of the TTWA’s have decreased their claimant numbers. Mansfield saw the largest fall, declining by 85 individuals, or -1.43%. Whilst there was an increase in Nottingham involving 60 claimants, equalling a rise of 0.33%. Employment Counts For quarter four of 2019, the Employment Count in Nottinghamshire totals 554,600. This is split between 146,600 individuals within the City and 408,000 across the remaining County. Excluding the City, this represents 207,900 males and 200,100 females. Within the Districts, Gedling has the highest percentage of those in employment aged between 16 to 64, with 82.50%. The lowest in the region is Nottingham, with a total rating of 63.90%. Meanwhile, Bassetlaw has the highest percentage of those aged 16-64 in self-employment, with 15.50%. The lowest is Mansfield with 5.90%. Of the Parliamentary Constituencies, five have increased their numbers compared to quarter three. The highest of these is Sherwood’s rise of 6.20%, with an employment count now of 51,600. The greatest decline was Broxtowe’s 2.30%, for a total of 50,100 individuals in employment. Comparatively, against the previous quarter, three of the four TTWA’s have increased the number of individuals in employment in their respective regions. This includes Mansfield on 73.80%, an increase of 1.30%; Nottingham on 74.20%, up 0.40%, and Worksop and Retford on 80.20%, up 2.00%. Universal Credit

For February 2020, the total number of Universal Credit Claimants in Nottinghamshire is 29,820. This is broken up by 7,217 employed females, 9,914 unemployed females, 3,793 employed males and 8,896 unemployed males.

Claimant Counts As of March 2020, the Claimant Count for the Nottinghamshire region is 20 lower than it was a month ago. For the City, this equates to 10,440 claimants, whilst the County has 13,035, which is made up of 7,605 males and 5,430 females. The claimant counts decreased in six Local Authority Districts in the region, over the month. The largest decrease was in Bassetlaw, which saw a fall of 60 individuals, equalling a change of -3.01%. Meanwhile, there was an increase of 15 individuals in Mansfield, or a rise of 0.65%. Across the Districts gender wise, Ashfield has the greatest number of claimants with 2,585. This is broken down by 1,070 females and 1,515 males. The lowest is Rushcliffe with 1,025 claimants, made up of 430 females and 595 males. As for the Parliamentary Constituencies, claimants decreased in seven of the eight during March. The largest decrease was in Bassetlaw, with saw a fall of 55 over the month, representing a 2.86%% decline. Compared to a year ago, the rates of change across Parliamentary Constituencies range from 2.18% in Bassetlaw, to 41.94% in Rushcliffe.
