Organization of PT in WMA

• Warsaw Transport Authority (ZTM) stands for organization and controlling of PT services

• ZTM is a budgetary unit of the municipality of Warsaw

• 10 operators• WMA: 25 communities signed contract with

Warsaw about co-operation in PT

Goal 1: improving the PT modal share in WMA

• High PT modal share in Warsaw: 68%• PT modal share in the whole WMA: 41%• The reason: less attractive PT service in

WMA:1. Poor service due to the lack of funds in the

budgets of the suburban communities2. Lack of integration: different fare systems,

lack of timetable and route coordination, too many small private companies

Goal 2: Integration of PT in WMA

• Tariff integration in WMA between local transport organized by ZTM, regional railways and private companies

• Functional integration: building PT junctions, facilitating changes, P+R

• Timetable and route integration

• Integrated PT management system

A chance for WMA: founding a Verkehrsverbund

• A joint organization of Warsaw and suburban communities based on ZTM, which would organize the PT in WMA

• Initiative of Warsaw

Goal 4: Improving the quality of PT services

• Renewing of the rolling stock by the municipal operators and awarding of network parts in a competitive tendering procedure

• Dynamic Passenger Information System• Bus services in sparsely populated districts

with mini- and midi buses• Reducing crowd in the vehicles
