Suwon Chicken Street Suwon Chicken Street is situated in an alley in Haenggu-ng-dong running from Paldalmun Gate to Janganmun Gate. Some eleven chicken restaurants serving roasted chikens, fired chikens and seasond chikens are always packed with visitors attracted to the alley by word of mouth.
Suwon Beef Ribs At barbecue restaurants in Suwon, 7cm cuts of beef ribs are served marinated and barbecued. The ribs used to be seasoned with salt, but these days they are sea-soned with soy sauce for a slightly healthier option.
Set Menu with Jangdankong (Paju)‘Jangdankong’ refers to soybeans grown in the Jangdan area - considered to be the best quality soybeans in Korea because they are cultivated in the pure environment of Paju. The Set Menu with Jangdankong consists of tofu and a rich soybean paste made with these soybeans.
Grilled Eel (Imjingang River)Eels are served marinated and grilled, after being deboned and boiled in a stock made of soy sauce, sugar, ginger, sesame, ground green onion, and garlic. The ‘Eel Town’ located near the Imjingang River in Paju is very famous.
Pocheon Beef Ribs Beef ribs are barbecued after being marinated in soy sauce, sugar, garlic, ginger, and clear rice wine. The ribs are cooked and served on a skewer.
Makgeolli (Pocheon)Makgeolli is made with pure water and the leftovers from the brewing of clean rice wine. Idong Makgeolli is made with mineral water from Baegundong Valley, which gives it its unique and delicate flavor.
Set Menu with Steamed Rice (Icheon)The Icheon Rice Festival is held every October to promote Icheon rice, which is widely recognized for its excellent quality and glossy, glutinous texture. The set menu with steamed Icheon rice is a Korean-style set meal consisting of rice served in a hot pot and various side dishes.
Sausage Stew (Uijeongbu)Sausage stew is cooked with gochujang (hot pepper paste), pork, sausage, kimchi, noodles, rice cakes, and tofu. Uijeongbu has long been renowned for its excellent sausage stew.

E3 Namhansanseong Fortress UNESCO World HeritageA fortress constructed in the Joseon Dynasty era to protect the kingdom’s capital, Han-yang. It is now considered as the one equipped with the best facilities of all the other for-tresses in Korea. Designated as a provincial park, it attracts many mountain climbers and tourists, providing a variety of things to enjoy including walking and driving courses.

It was constructed in 1615 (7th year of Gwanghaegun’s reign) by the regional Confucian scholars who agreed on its foun-dation to commemorate the scholastic achievement and virtuous acts of Yi I (pen-name: Yulgok). His portrait and mortuary tablet are enshrined in this academy.

C2 Hoeamsa Temple Site (Hoeamsaji)
It is the site wherethe Goryeo Kingdom’s greatest Buddhist temple (Hoeamsa) stood with 260 halls and accommodating 3,000 monks. Many cultural assets worthy to be designated as national treasures were ex-cavated here, which proves the historical value of this site.

D2 Haengjusanseong FortressThe fortress, which commands a grand view of Hangang River flowing to the West Sea, was where the Siege of Haengju led by General Kwon Yul took place in 1593 during the Japanese invasion of Korea. There are a museum displaying the artillery and fire carts used at that time and a cozy trail with a length of about 1km.

E3 Suwon Hwaseong Fortress UNESCO World HeritageA fortress considered as one of the masterpiece structures constructed during the reign of King Jeongjo of the Joseon Dynasty. It reaches a length of 5.7km and an area of 1.2km². The fortress is a historical landmark that demonstrates the groundbreaking progress in the Korean architectural style at that time, with its various structures such as Janganmun Gate, Paldalmun Gate, Hongmun Gate and towers.

Yunggeolleung is a name referring to the two royal tombs of the Joseon Dynasty: Yungneung, the joint tomb of King Jangjo and Queen Heongyeong and Geolleung, the joint tomb of King Jeongjo and Queen Hyoui. In a beautiful forest neighboring on the tombs, tourists can enjoy a promenade or a marvellous snowy landscape in winter, which is praised as “Yunggeon Baek-seol (White Snow)”, one of the Eight Great Views of Hwaseong.

E4 Yeongneung Royal Tomb(The Tomb of King Sejong) UNESCO World Heritage
The joint tomb of the 4th ruler of the Joseon Dynasty, King Sejong and his Queen Soheon. This was the Joseon’s first royal tomb where a king and a queen were interred together, which set up the foundation of the style of the early Joseon era’s royal tombs. A trail is built across the wood leading to the tomb of King Hyojong.
