1.1 Safety informationYourHDrecorderispoweredusinga12Vpowersupplyunit.YourHDrecorderhasbeenmanufacturedtomeettheappropriatesafetystandards,butyoumustfollowthebelowinstructionstooperateitsafely.Keeptheseinstructionsforfuturereference.

• Thesuppliedmainsplugisanon-rewireabletype.Ifyouneedtoreplacethefuse,youmustuseanASTA-orBSI-approvedBS1362fuse,ratedat3Aandmarkedasshownbelow. Theplughasitsfusebeneathafusecoveronitsface.Useascrewdrivertoleveroffthefusecover,replacethefusewithanewoneandrefititscover.Never use a plug if its fuse cover is missing. Thefuseisinsidetherewireableplug.Useascrewdrivertoremovetheplug’sbackcover.Never put the plug into the mains socket when its cover is removed. 1.2 Reducing power consumption
YourHDrecorderisdesignedtoreduceitsimpactontheenvironmentandcomplieswiththeEuropeanDirective2009/125/EC.ThisispartofPhilips’ongoingcommitmenttoleadthewayinenvironmentalresponsibility.
Ithasastandbymodeofoperationthatneedsverylittlepower.Seethetablebelowandpleasenotethat: • WhenyourHDrecorderisinthestandbymode,yousaveenergy(andthereforemoney)andreducecarbondioxideemissionsthatdamagetheenvironment.
• YouusethestandbybuttononyourHDrecorderorremotecontroltoswitchbetweenonandstandbymodes.Inaddition,ifyourHDrecorderison,butyoudonotpressanybuttononitoryourremotecontrolfor3hours(configurable-see‘Automaticecomode’onpage30),yourHDrecorderwillautomaticallygetintothestandbymode.
• IfyouarenotgoingtouseyourHDrecorderforseveraldays,youcancutitsenergyconsumptiontozerobyunpluggingitfromthemainswallsocket.

3.3 Installing your HD recorderBeforeyoustartinstallation,makesureyouhavemadealltherequiredconnections. Insertthetwo-wayconnectoronthesuppliedmainsleadintothe12Vpowersupplyunit.Connectthe12Vpowersupplyunittothe12VpowerconnectorontherearpanelofyourHDrecorder.
Connectthemainsplugtothemainswallsocket.
YourHDrecorderdisplaysawelcomemessageafterafewseconds.
Press the greenbuttontostarttheinstallation. TheAntenna poweringmenuappears.
Let the Antenna poweringsettingbeOff unlessyouuseanindoorantennathatcanbepoweredbythecoaxialcableconnectedto the Antenna INsocketofyourHDrecorder(seenote).

IfyourHDrecorderisstillnotabletofindanychannels,presstheyellowbutton.Use / tomanuallycheckthequalityandstrengthofthesignalsreceivedbyyourantennainvariouschannelfrequencies.
If the Signal strengthbarisgreen,thenyourantennaandHDrecorderareproperlyconnected.Ifitisred,thenyouneedtofirstcheckyourconnection.IftheSignal quality barisgreen,thenyoucanbesurethatyouarereceivingdigitalbroadcastsignals.Ifyourreceptionisnotoptimal(fewchannelsor“blocky”image),youmustcheckyourantennainstallationasitmayneedtoberealignedorfixed.

4.4 Using the channel banner
Channel informationWhenyouchangeachannel,thechannelbannerappearsbrieflytoshowinformationaboutthecurrentprogramme.Bydefault,itappearsfor5seconds.Tosetthelengthoftimethatthechannelbannerremainson-screen,seepage29.
Changing channelTochangethechannel,displaythechannelbannerbypressingINFO. Whenthechannelbannerison-screen,
use / to see what programmes are currentlyshowingonotherchannels.Ifyouseeaprogrammeyouwanttowatch, press OK.
Todisplaymoreinformationaboutthecurrentprogrammeonthechannellistedinthechannelbanner,pressINFO again.
Todisplaywhatprogrammeisonnext(onthechannellistedinthechannelbanner),press the yellowbutton.

4.3 Adjusting volumeToincreaseordecreasethevolume,pressVOL+/VOL-.ThevolumelevelisshownbrieflyonyourTV.Tomuteorrestorethesound,press .Whenyoumuteyoursound,the iconisshowninthetoprightcornerofyourTV.Thisicondisappearsafterafewseconds.

4.8 Pausing live TVWhenyouswitchtoachannel,yourHDrecorderautomaticallystartsrecordingtheprogrammethatisbeingplayedandstoresittemporarilyinthetime-shiftbuffer.Whenyouswitchtoadifferentchannel,yourHDrecorderdiscardsthepreviouslyrecordedprogramme,andstartsrecordingthecurrentprogramme.Thisfeatureenablesyoutopausealiveprogrammeatanymomentandlatercontinuewatchingitfromthatpoint,orinstantlyrewindandwatchwhatyouhaveseen(ormissed)inthelastfewseconds.
Note• YourHDrecorderstoresupto3hoursof
liveTVcontentinthetime-shiftbuffer.Attheendof3hours,theoldestpartoftherecordingisoverwritten.
