1.1 Safety informationYourHDrecorderispoweredusinga12Vpowersupplyunit.YourHDrecorderhasbeenmanufacturedtomeettheappropriatesafetystandards,butyoumustfollowthebelowinstructionstooperateitsafely.Keeptheseinstructionsforfuturereference.

Danger• YourHDrecorderdoesnotcontainanyuser-serviceableparts.Donotattempttoopenit.Allmaintenanceworkmustbecarriedoutbyqualifiedservicecentres.

• Thesuppliedmainsplugisanon-rewireabletype.Ifyouneedtoreplacethefuse,youmustuseanASTA-orBSI-approvedBS1362fuse,ratedat3Aandmarkedasshownbelow. Theplughasitsfusebeneathafusecoveronitsface.Useascrewdrivertoleveroffthefusecover,replacethefusewithanewoneandrefititscover.Never use a plug if its fuse cover is missing. Thefuseisinsidetherewireableplug.Useascrewdrivertoremovetheplug’sbackcover.Never put the plug into the mains socket when its cover is removed. Leveroutthefuseandreplaceitwithanewone.Replacetheplug’sbackcover. If the supplied mains plug is not suitable for your mains socket-outlet, DO NOT plug it in. 1.2 Reducing power consumption

YourHDrecorderisdesignedtoreduceitsimpactontheenvironmentandcomplieswiththeEuropeanDirective2009/125/EC.ThisispartofPhilips’ongoingcommitmenttoleadthewayinenvironmentalresponsibility.

Ithasastandbymodeofoperationthatneedsverylittlepower.Seethetablebelowandpleasenotethat: • WhenyourHDrecorderisinthestandbymode,yousaveenergy(andthereforemoney)andreducecarbondioxideemissionsthatdamagetheenvironment.

• YouusethestandbybuttononyourHDrecorderorremotecontroltoswitchbetweenonandstandbymodes.Inaddition,ifyourHDrecorderison,butyoudonotpressanybuttononitoryourremotecontrolfor3hours(configurable-see‘Automaticecomode’onpage30),yourHDrecorderwillautomaticallygetintothestandbymode.

• IfyouarenotgoingtouseyourHDrecorderforseveraldays,youcancutitsenergyconsumptiontozerobyunpluggingitfromthemainswallsocket.

3 Getting started3.1 Preparing your remote control

Removethebatterycoverbygentlypressingdowninthesmallcircleonthecoverandslidingitdownwards.

InsertthetwoAAAbatteriesasshown.Besuretomatchthe+and-marksonthebatteriestotheirrespectivemarksinsidethebatterycompartment.

Replacethebatterycover.

NoteForbetterreception,pointyourremotecontroldirectlyatthefrontpanelofyourHDrecorderwhilepressinganybutton.

CautionDonotleavebatteriesinyourremotecontrolforlongperiodsoftimewithoutuse.Replacebothbatteriesatthesametime.Donotdisposeofusedbatterieswithyourdomesticwaste.Usedbatteriesshouldberecycledattheendoftheirusefullife.Donotdisposeofbatteriesinafire.

UsethesuppliedHDMIcabletoconnecttheHDMIconnectorontherearpanelofyourHDrecordertotheHDMIinputconnectorofyourTV.Forthenextstep,notethechosenHDMIinputofyourTV(e.g.‘HDMI1’).

ConnectyourTVtothemainsandselectthecorrectA/VsourceonyourTV.ThisshouldcorrespondtotheHDMIinputconnectortowhichyourHDrecorderisconnected.Ifnecessary,refertoyourTV’susermanualforinstructions.

3.3 Installing your HD recorderBeforeyoustartinstallation,makesureyouhavemadealltherequiredconnections. Insertthetwo-wayconnectoronthesuppliedmainsleadintothe12Vpowersupplyunit.Connectthe12Vpowersupplyunittothe12VpowerconnectorontherearpanelofyourHDrecorder.

Connectthemainsplugtothemainswallsocket.

YourHDrecorderdisplaysawelcomemessageafterafewseconds.

Press the greenbuttontostarttheinstallation. TheAntenna poweringmenuappears.

Let the Antenna poweringsettingbeOff unlessyouuseanindoorantennathatcanbepoweredbythecoaxialcableconnectedto the Antenna INsocketofyourHDrecorder(seenote).

3.4 What if no channels are found? IncaseyourHDrecorderdoesnotfindany

channels,checkyourconnections(seepages11and34)andpressthered buttontostartthefirstinstallationsetupagain.

IfyourHDrecorderisstillnotabletofindanychannels,presstheyellowbutton.Use / tomanuallycheckthequalityandstrengthofthesignalsreceivedbyyourantennainvariouschannelfrequencies.

If the Signal strengthbarisgreen,thenyourantennaandHDrecorderareproperlyconnected.Ifitisred,thenyouneedtofirstcheckyourconnection.IftheSignal quality barisgreen,thenyoucanbesurethatyouarereceivingdigitalbroadcastsignals.Ifyourreceptionisnotoptimal(fewchannelsor“blocky”image),youmustcheckyourantennainstallationasitmayneedtoberealignedorfixed.

4.4 Using the channel banner

Channel informationWhenyouchangeachannel,thechannelbannerappearsbrieflytoshowinformationaboutthecurrentprogramme.Bydefault,itappearsfor5seconds.Tosetthelengthoftimethatthechannelbannerremainson-screen,seepage29.

Changing channelTochangethechannel,displaythechannelbannerbypressingINFO. Whenthechannelbannerison-screen,

use / to see what programmes are currentlyshowingonotherchannels.Ifyouseeaprogrammeyouwanttowatch, press OK.

Todisplaymoreinformationaboutthecurrentprogrammeonthechannellistedinthechannelbanner,pressINFO again.

Todisplaywhatprogrammeisonnext(onthechannellistedinthechannelbanner),press the yellowbutton.

Press INFO athirdtime,orpressEXIT toremovethechannelbannerwithoutchangingthechannel.Alternatively,pressBACK toreturntothechannelbanner.

4 Using your HD recorder4.1 Standby/wake upToputyourHDrecorderintostandby,press onyourHDrecorder’sfrontpanelorremotecontrol.TotakeyourHDrecorderoutofstandby,press again.YoucanalsopressBACK ,P+/P- or anynumberbuttononyourremotecontroltowakeupyourHDrecorder.Seepage7formoreinformation.

4.2 Changing channelsTochangechannels,usetheP+/P-onyourremotecontroloryourHDrecorder’sfrontpanel.Youcanalsousethenumberbuttonsonyourremotecontrol.Press BACK toswitchtothelastchannelyouwerewatching.Youcanalsousetheon-screenchannellistsorchannelbannertochangechannels(seesections4.4and4.5).

NoteInitially,HDprogrammesareavailableonchannels50and51.Switchtothesechannelstowatch HD programmes.

4.3 Adjusting volumeToincreaseordecreasethevolume,pressVOL+/VOL-.ThevolumelevelisshownbrieflyonyourTV.Tomuteorrestorethesound,press .Whenyoumuteyoursound,the iconisshowninthetoprightcornerofyourTV.Thisicondisappearsafterafewseconds.
