• Dry feet• Sufficient clean water and reliable and useful
information• Safe and swift transport on land • Smooth and safe transport by water

Past/current state production lines Rijkswaterstaat
• 2 Production lines• Started 10-15 years ago (2 different regions of RWS, different goal)• Both production lines based on customized software, which will no be
supported in the future• Changes of organisation at Rijkswaterstaat• Data quality not always good and verifiable

Difference between two production lines
• First production line based on: – Re-use of Rijkswaterstaat datasources to
make a IENC – For all inland waterways (IENC)
• Second production line based on:– Manually maintained nautical database– Used for Zeeland (Antwerpen), Amsterdam,
Eems:• IENC• Port ENC (used by pilots, traffic centres)• To compute time windows for ships
– Including measured depths/surveys (10 cm isolines)
– Over 700 surveys each year

Transition
• Starting point (principles)– COTS (standard) software– Comply with Inland ECDIS 2.3 (909/2013)– Re-use of datasources– Smooth transition (priority for production)– Able to add as built situation in nautical database– Extra: Based on (ESRI) architecture port of Rotterdam

Challenges
• Customized software standard software (combination of Maritime(S57) and Inland Ecdis standard)
• Automation of the production• Data Quality, for example data sources are set up for other processes• Interpretation of EU implementing regulation• Cooperation with other waterway authorities

Challenges
• Knowledge, tools
• Responsability
• Gaps/overlap

Opportunities
• 1 Nautical database– Data uploading and exchange– Serve more products– Automatic change detection
• Scalable architecture• Support quality control tools• Fast and more robust production• Easier cooperation with other waterway authorities
