Important Vocabulary

• Biodiversity•  the diversity, or variety, of plants and animals and other living

things in a particular area or region• also means the number, or abundance of different species living

within a particular region

• Endangered • To expose to harm or danger; imperil.• To threaten with extinction.

Endangered Species Presentation

• Day 1 and 2 – Research• Start with the World Wildlife Foundation’s Endangered Species List

(click here)• Choose ONE species that is on the list• Collect information to be able to answer the following questions

• What is this animal (common name and scientific name)?• Where is it located (specifically)?• What role does it play in it’s environment; what is it’s niche?• Why is it’s population decreasing (be very specific with reasons and state

ALL the reasons)?• What other information do we need to know about this animal (what

makes it so special)?• What could be a possible solution to them becoming endangered (some

ideas might be listed but you might be able to think of a solution whether you can do it or not)?

• Day 3 and 4 – Making the presentation• Make a Web Page on your Google

Account• Go to your Google Account and sign in• Once there, click on the boxes next to

your name• Select Sites, then Create• Give your site a name related to the assignment• Copy down the link so you can send it to your teacher to grade!• Select a theme• Click Create

• Once you have your site created your site you need to edit it to add your information by clicking on the pencil

• Once you are in edit mode, click on Insert to add

information to your site.

• You can add whatever information you want

including links to sites but you still have to have

the information required. You cannot simply

link to outside sites but can reference them

• You can add pages to address each question if you wish

• Don’t forget to click “Save” once you have it the way you want it.

• If you click on “Share” it will show you the link to the web address

• You should also Invite your teacher to be able to view your web page just to make sure you have it “turned in”
