The Luxembourg Law of 5 July 2016 transposes the Energy Efficiency Directive (“EED”) and requires companies to have an audit energy carried out by an independent expert every four years. The EED, adopted in 2012, aims at implementing a common framework of measures across the EU, to promote energy efficiency and achieve the 2020 climate targets: 20% renewable energy in the energy mix; 20% reduction in CO2 emissions; 20% energy efficiency gains.
