Energy is: The ability to do work, or make a change
2 Types:-KINETIC – Energy of motion-POTENTIAL – Energy of position, or stored energy

So if energy is not destroyed, it must be:CHANGED INTO A DIFFERENT FORMThere are seven main types of energy1.) Mechanical – energy of movement
2. Thermal energy – total amount of energy
in the form of heat
3. Sound energy – vibrations that carry
energy in waves
4. Nuclear energy – energy stored in atoms
5. Chemical energy – energy stored in
chemical bonds (food, gas, battery)
6. Electrical energy – energy carried by electrical current
7. Radiant energy – energy carried by light
waves
II. Energy Transformations A. Energy is constantly changing from one form to another. This change is called an Energy Transformation.
1. Chemical energy in gasoline is transformed into mechanical energy in the engine of the car. 2. Electrical energy is transformed into sound energy inside your stereo.
