BELGIAN NOUVEAU CHIC
Cléo Baele and Sarah Bos are the creative duo behind Black Balloon, a label from Ghent, Belgium.
A brand of clothing, shoes and accessories for men and women, where music and emotions set the tone. The men and woman-collections of this duo combine female and tough elements, simply yet edgy, with an eye for detail and refinement “Belgian Nouveau Chic” as they like to call it. Next to their prêt-à-porter collection, made-to-measure and handmade outfits, they also have a premium BLACK Collection, a total concept but filled with custom made prints and ingenious designs. Every time with that extra va-va-voom, as if there’s music in their designs and they turned it up a notch!
They’ve won the prestigious Fred and Ginger price for the most promising collection in 2009. And recently in 2013 the “Prix Paris Capital” for best foreign men collection.
They had the honour to design for many music artists as Arno (Le Chevalier des Arts.), Baloji (former rapper with Starflam), An Pierlé, and Jessie Ware (UK based singer, known from “Wildest Moments”) outed her as a Black Balloon fan on twitter.

‘NOUVEAU CHIC’ The Black collection, the duo's Autumn – Winter premium line is a total concept, but this time inspired on their own ‘Nouveau Chic’ style as the base of their collection.
What is “Belgian Nouveau Chic”? It’s combing female and tough elements, simple yet edgy It’s timeless and classy with a twist It’s loud but oh so quiet It’s daring but oh so timid It’s dapper but oh so dashed It’s dark but oh so colourful The result is an exceptional collection featuring bold designs and cuts, filled with contradictions as well as timeless collection pieces.
