Introduction to Power point The primary purpose of PowerPoint is to help you design, create, and edit presentations and printed handouts. A presentation is a set of screens (called slides) that you present to people in a group. Because PowerPoint provides a wide variety of predefined templates, you don't have to be a graphics design specialist to create good-looking presentations. Microsoft PowerPoint is a software product used to perform computer-based presentations. There are various circumstances in which a presentation is made: teaching a class, introducing a product to sell, explaining an organizational structure, etc. There are two main kinds of presentations you can deliver: before an audience or not. The preparation and the actual delivery of each are quite different. Before getting into the details of each, we will first take a look at the software and analyze what it has to offer. Note: The term presentation refers to the entire PowerPoint collection of slides, whereas the term slide refers to an individual screen within a presentation. PowerPoint slides can hold many kinds of information. Introduction to Power point

The primary purpose of PowerPoint is to help you design, create, and edit presentations and printed handouts. A presentation is a set of screens (called slides) that you present to people in a group. Because PowerPoint provides a wide variety of predefined templates, you don't have to be a graphics design specialist to create good-looking presentations.

Microsoft PowerPoint is a software product used to perform computer-based presentations. There are various circumstances in which a presentation is made: teaching a class, introducing a product to sell, explaining an organizational structure, etc.

There are two main kinds of presentations you can deliver: before an audience or not. The preparation and the actual delivery of each are quite different. Before getting into the details of each, we will first take a look at the software and analyze what it has to offer.

The term presentation refers to the entire PowerPoint collection of slides, whereas the term slide refers to an individual screen within a presentation.

PowerPoint slides can hold many kinds of information. Here are a few of the things you can add to a PowerPoint presentation:

Data you insert into PowerPoint, including text, charts, graphs, and graphics Word documents

Live data from the Internet including complete Web pages

Excel worksheets

Excel graphs and charts

Access databases

Multimedia content such as movies and sound

Graphics programs that you use to create and edit graphics

Other software programs whose data you import into PowerPoint

Starting Microsoft PowerPoint

One way you can open Microsoft PowerPoint by clicking

Start -> (All) Programs -> Microsoft Office -> Microsoft Office PowerPoint.

1. Slide Orientation

Switch the slide orientation between portrait and landscape.

a. On the Design tab, under Page Setup section, select Slide Orientation.

Select any one mode Portrait or Landscape.

2. Slide Layout

You can change the layout of the selected slide

a. On the Home tab, under Slides section, select Layout. Select any one format you like.

Note: Right click on the slide and select Layout from the menu.

3. Inserting Text

a. Select any text box on the slide and type the required text.

Note: On the Insert tab, under Text section, select Text Box to insert text.

4. Word Art

Insert decorative text in your document.

a. On the Insert tab, under Text section, select Word Art to insert decorative text.

5. Formatting Text

a. Select any text box on the slide and type the required text.

b. Select the text box so that you will find Format tab. Apply some changes.

6. Bullets and Numbering

To start a Bullets list or numbering list use the required buttons

a. On the Home tab, under Paragraph section, select Bullets button or Numbering button.

7. Auto Shapes

You can insert readymade shapes.

a. On the Home tab, under Drawing section, select any shape from the list.

b. On the Insert tab, under Illustrations section, select Shapes.

8. Lines and Arrows

a. On the Insert tab, under Illustrations section, select Shapes.

9. Hyperlinks

a. On the Insert tab, under Links section, select Hyperlink.

10. Inserting Images

a. On the Insert tab, under Illustrations section, select Picture.

11. Clip Art

a. On the Insert tab, under Illustrations section, select Clip Art.

12. Audio

a. On the Insert tab, under Media Clips section, select Sound.

13. Video

a. On the Insert tab, under Media Clips section, select Movie.

14. Objects

a. On the Insert tab, under Text section, select Object.

15. Tables

a. On the Insert tab, under Tables section, select Table.
