1. The VIBROTEST-System 1.1 Hardware The VIBROTEST oscillating systems stand for practically oriented and consistent realization of - Reliability- and fatigue testing

- Quality assurance

- Transport simulation

- Resonance analysis

- Environment simulations

The VIBROTEST program consists of a numerous of reliable standard systems, as well of special systems, which have been developed due to requirements of our clientele. These customer specific solutions like designs for special or very big or difficult test specimens, electrical adjustment of the displacement or high accelerations over a big frequency range are our strength. However we are bound to the following physical limits: Max. table size: 3000 x 4000 mm Max. load: 15.000 kg Frequency range: 10 -100 Hz Max. acceleration: 20 g Max. displacement: 25mm Type of motion: vertical, horizontal circular and combinations The physical interdependence of some criterions makes it impossible to reach all shown limits at the same time. Being your competent partner in the field of vibration engineering, we offer qualified consultancy and extensive servicing in relation to our systems.

1.2 Software (optional) VIBROCONTROL is the standard software for the VIBROTEST oscillating systems. This menu-guided and self-explaining software with intelligent functions for all your tasks will support you when dealing with measuring, signal handling, test preparation and with the online frequency control of the VIBROTEST system. The VIBROCONTROL software is a practice-oriented program for:

- Operation and control of the VIBROTEST-Systems;

- Calculation of the plausibility of test conditions as well as their graphic display;

- Calculation of the settings of the vibrator motors (adjustment of the unbalances) as well

as the graphic display;

- Collection of measuring data with special acceleration sensors at the oscillating system

(optional);

1.2.1 System demands The practice-oriented software VIBROCONTROL can be used on all current computer-systems like:

• Windows 95, 98, 98SE; • Windows Me; • Windows 2000 Professional; • Windows XP Professional or Windows XP Home Edition;

For the use of an acceleration sensor a serial interface or a USB connection is necessary.

2. Range of applications

2.1 Reliability and fatigue testing In many different areas products have to be tested concerning their reliability and their fatigue life. One example is the fatigue testing of a specimen according to specific standards: Frequency: Sweep around known system resonance. Displacement: according to the expected or measured stress. Duration: approx. 106 changes.

2.2 Quality assurance In compliance with effective quality assurance within the scope of EN ISO 9000 ff. industrial devices are tested for example according to IEC 68/2-6 Kap.5 Tab. 1,2,5 at practice relevant frequencies: Frequency: 10 - 55/100 Hz Displacement: 0,3 mm Duration: 45 min.

2.3 Transport simulation In current applications transportation stress is simulated for example according to specific standards as IEC 50 A, IEC 68/2-6 Kap.5 Tab. 1, 2, 5 or DIN 55439: Frequency: 2 – 8 Hz (IEC 50 A), 10 - 55/100 Hz (IEC 68-2) Displacement: 22,5 mm (IEC 50 A), 0,7 mm (IEC 68-2) Duration: 30 min 105 min

Using DIN 55439 a testing time of 10-40 min. is equivalent to a distance of 1000 km.

VIBROTEST – 4W- 5/10 The series 4W has been developed for applications where the test parameter as frequency and accelerating strain of the test specimen has to be regulated very accurately (e.g. the automobile industry). This can be guaranteed due to the 4-shaft-technology. The amplitude during operation can be adjusted between 0 and 100 %. With the corresponding feed-back of the test specimen (e.g. with the help of the VIBROCONTROL measuring equipment) the test parameter can be adjusted very precisely. Technical description:

4. Theory The various VIBROTEST shakers were continuously optimized and are known as very reliable and long lasting systems. The active mechanical component of the system is the elastically suspended table surface with an electromechanical drive. Two phase coupled rotating unbalances are generating the vertical sinusoidal motion of the table surface. Displacement and acceleration are depending on the total unbalancing moment, the frequency and the load, according to the following equations. Definitions: max. total unbalancing moment := U0 [kg*m] total unbalancing moment := U [kg*m] set-up angle := β [deg] (0...160°) frequency := f [Hz] dynamical mass := M [kg] load := m [kg] displacement := s [m] acceleration := a [m/s2] Equations: U = U0 ∗ cos(β/2) (to adjust while standstill, except for Series 4W)

s = 2 ∗ U / (M + m) (independent from f )

a = 39.5 ∗ U ∗ f2 / (M + m) (proportional to f2 ) These equations are only valid for frequencies outside the resonance of the vibration system or the load. Concerning the technical data the load is assumed as an inelastic, rigid mass. The centre-of-mass of the load generally has to be above the middle of the table surface. The unbalances are easy to adjust while standstill. The setting value can be determined by the VIBROCONTROL PC software. Also the limits of the system concerning force, frequency range and displacement are considered by the software automatically. Because of the elastic suspension and the danger of resonance the clamping surface requires a free horizontal moving space of 5 mm, a free declination space of approx. 3° and the absence of appreciable external forces except the gravitation force. This has to be considered for example in case of climatic-chamber inlets.
