Bell-Ringer. Welcome! I hope that you’re having a good Monday. For your bell-ringer today, tell me a little bit about how yourself, and then review the Elements of Fiction.
1. What is something that you are afraid of? Setting. Today we’ll be reviewing the Elements of Fiction. Then, we will read a short story by Hernando Téllez titled “Lather and Nothing Else.” In this story, we will first be identifying setting and plot, and then we will analyze conflict, character, point of view, and theme. Let’s focus on setting first. I know they say you can’t go home again. I just had to come back one last time.
Ma'am I know you don't know me from Adam. But these handprints on the front steps are mine. And up those stairs, in that little back bedroom is where I did my homework and I learned to play

I thought if I could touch this place or feel it this brokenness inside me might start healing.

Mama cut out pictures of houses for years.
From 'Better Homes and Garden' magazines. Plans were drawn, concrete poured, and nail by nail and board by board Daddy gave life to mama's dream.

Does the story contain certain local
flavor (speech, dress, mannerisms, customs, etc. of a particular place?) - Mood or atmosphere: What feeling is created at the beginning of the story? Is it bright and cheerful
or dark and frightening?
