Through studying a wide range of examples, students will develop an understanding of major trends and movements in American literary history, We’ll also study the way Americans’ ideas about human nature, the natural world, the divine, and art have changed over time. This course fulfills an English major requirement and a Humanities General Education requirement. General Education Student Learning Outcomes, Humanities: Students analyze how ideas are represented, interpreted or valued in various expressions of human culture. Students examine relevant primary source materials as understood by the discipline and interpret the material in writing assignments. These outcomes will be assessed using the final exam.
