This is a winter festival held with the theme of ‘We make Christmas story (Christmas with love and sharing)’ in Gwangbok-ro, Jung-gu, from November 29, 2014 to January 4, 2015. It receivedthemainprize inthe ‘2014Asia Landscape Awards,’ and features many shopping stores.

More than 30 stands with food from various countries, clothes and accessories are installed in a 110m-long street. A variety of attractions such as magic shows and other performances are provided twice daily at the entrance to the Kkangtong Night Market and at the intersection in the market, and the glaring LED lights next to the market welcome guests.

Gwangan Bridge is beloved by Busan residents and visitors alike, and provides a magnificent harmony with the natural tourist attractions located nearby in the daytime, and with the night view for romance and rest. Ver t ical and spiral-shaped pi l lars of rock surround the climbingpathofSeongsan IlchulbongTuffCone.Duringthehydrovolcanic eruption of this tuff cone, the pyroclastic (ash) deposits forced a flow down the slope, and the deposits were eroded over time by rain flushing thus creating a land that appearsdeeperthanthegrounditself.Uniquerockslikethesesurrounding the climbing path did not just spring out overnight but have been formed by different erosion processes of unconsolidated tuff deposits by the rill-flow.

Haenyeo, Mothers of the Jeju people

"Haenyeo" refers to Jeju women divers. They dive into the sea to gather sea products, without oxygen tanks. Although diving without

professional diving gear and underwater fishing is rare nowadays, it is a common scene on the seaside of Jeju. Jeju female divers still keep up with the traditional way of diving and harvesting shellfish and seaweed. Haenyeos are the mothers of the Jeju people. They dive deep into the cold winter sea and collect

octopus, abalone, and seaweed. As they emerge to the surface, the long-held breath is released in a sound similar to a long

whistle blow. This is called "Sumbisori" and is the sound of the mothers on Jeju, who work hard in the harsh nature to raise their children.
