Managing the speech contest

High school English club manages the speech contest for the local middle schools. The high school students will moderate and give announcements to manage the speech contest.

It takes a lot of preparation and planning, but it is a big deal for the students and practicing is absolutely necessary.

HS ALTs will need to go through each line with their English club students to make sure they have correct pronunciation of their announcements.

Speech contest cont’d As a high school ALT, you will most likely be asked to judge this contest.

As a middle school ALT, it will be your job to practice the speeches with your students.

Every school is different, some allocate time for preparation, some require you to meet after school with your speech contestant students.
