thumper truck Seismic o p e r a t o r s search for o i l . On land we use a t h u m p e r t r u c k . The t h u m p e r t r u c k carries heavy plates. Heavy plates are the energy source. The heavy plates h i t t h e g r o u n d and make shock waves. Sometimes we use explosives. The explosion is t h e energy source. The e x p l o s i o n sends shock waves t h r o u g h the rock. The layers of rock reflect the waves t o the receiver. We call these reflected waves. We use computers in t h e r e c o r d i n g t r u c k t o r e c o r d the data and t o analyse the data .
