The English Language Training Institute (ELTI) is committed to student success and high quality learning experiences. With highly-trained classroom instructors and advanced technology, ELTI offers a productive educational environment that helps students reach their goals in language learning. Students can engage outside of the classroom through off-campus field trips, cultural activities, and engagement opportunities with US students.
Classes included in the ELTI program:
• Reading & Writing • Academic Language • Listening & Speaking
Class hours:
Full time: 18–20 contact hours per weekPart time: 6–12 contact hours per week

Our program is located on the campus of UNC Charlotte in Charlotte, North Carolina. As the largest city in the state, Charlotte is an excellent place to live and study. Its fast-paced, diverse, and ever-growing nature makes it a perfect home for international students.
The city is within driving distance to the Appalachian Mountains, beaches of the Atlantic Ocean, and other major cities such as Atlanta, Georgia; and Washington, DC.

UNC Charlotte is connected to the city via the campus light rail station. UNC Charlotte is located 16km from downtown Charlotte, which is a 22 minute trip on the light rail.

Conditional and Direct Admission
to UNC Charlotte
Students who are academically admissible to un-dergraduate programs, but who do not yet have the required English proficiency test scores, may apply for conditional admission status. Students enroll first in ELTI, then once a satisfactory TOEFL or IELTS score is obtained, students may enter the University the next available term. Students who successfully pass ELTI’s highest level can be directly admitted to UNC Charlotte without a TOEFL or IELTS.

• Advanced students may be eligible to enroll in UNC Charlotte courses for credit
• TOEFL/IELTS waiver for UNC Charlotte undergraduates who successfully complete ELTI’s highest level
ELTI students form close connections with the university and US American life during their stay.
