English Language Support Service

Are you an international student? Do you find it difficult to study in a different language and academic culture?

Are you a native English speaker? Are you finding it hard to use the academic language expected by your tutors?

Are you a postgraduate student with lots of experience, or an undergraduate student just starting out in Higher Education?

If you’ve answered yes to any of these questions, we are here to help you develop the English language and study skills that you will need to succeed on your academic programme and in your future career.

An international experience for every student…We also aim to promote dialogue between UK and international students from all different backgrounds in order to prepare you for a global career. Please see our website for ideas.

Support for Native Speakers of EnglishEven if English is your first language, expressing yourself clearly, accurately and appropriately can be a challenge.

We run a range of workshops for native English speakers to help you develop your academic language and literacy skills. For example, we can help you to develop your understanding of English grammar and punctuation, to write more coherently and to develop your academic writing style.

For more information and for details of how to register, please see our website.
