Minister of HealthThe Saudi Umran Society, The Saudi Health Care Architect

holds its1st Saudi Forum for Planning and Design of Hospitals

titled:“New Theoratical & Technical Trends

in Health Facilities Design”

Dr. Abdulaziz bin Nasser Al DowsaryChairman, Saudi Umran Society

Our blessed country is currently witnessing an urban renaissance and the implementation of various unprecedented key projects covering all areas of development. These projects are carried out upon the directions of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, and under his kind care with the aim of expanding the construction of medical cities and hospi-tals designed according to the latest high-tech engineering systems and standards.

Realizing the importance of planning and designing hospitals, The Saudi Health Care Architects of the Saudi Umran Society holds its first forum for which it has selected a significant title: “New Theoratical & Technical Trends in Health Facilities Design” The title represents a starting point to probe the world of health buildings which, according to engineer-ing standards, may be considered the most complicated and challenging type of buildings to construct. The challenge starts with its medical planning and design, building process, operation and maintenance as well. The forum, thus, aims at surveying the latest theoretical and technical trends in this field and their impact on hospital design.

Hence, organizing a forum to handle such vital and recurrent issue has been and still is a target sought by the Saudi Umran Society and its Saudi Health Care Architects. The ultimate aim is to provide a gathering where a select of archi-tects and advocates of planning and designing hospitals meet to survey and exchange the latest in the field. Moreover, the forum is accompanied by a specialized workshop and exhibition.

The Saudi Umran Society looks forward to launch the forum as one in a series of similar gatherings that may serve the purposes beyond establishing The Saudi Health Care Architects Hence, we extend our deepest gratitude to everyone who took part in the preparation, organization and sponsorship of the event.
