INTRODUCTION

than 600Vrms @ 50/60Hz. Nevermeasure current while the test leads are con-
nected to the input jacks. Donotoperatethemeterifthebodyortestsleadslook
damaged. Checktherotaryrangeswitchandmakesureitisatthe
correct position before each measurement. Donotperformresistanceandcontinuitytestonalive
circuit. Useextremecautionwhenmeasuringlivesystemswith

• TurnrotaryswitchtotheOFFposition
• Pressandholddownthe button,thenpowerthemeterON by selecting a range.
• Upon the next power ON, the auto-off function will bereactivated.

5.1 Warning!
• Removethetestleadsonanyinputbeforeopeningthecase.
• Donotoperatetheclamp-onprobewithoutabatterycasecover.
• Toavoidelectricalshock,donotattempttoperformanyservicingunlessyouarequalifiedtodoso.
• Toavoidelectricalshockand/ordamagetotheinstrument,donotgetwaterorotherforeignagentsintotheprobe.
5.2 Cleaning
• Tocleantheprobe,wipethecasewithadampclothandmilddeter-gent.
• Donotuseabrasivesorsolvents.
• Donotgetwaterinsidethecase.Thismayleadtoelectricalshockor damage to the instrument.

5.3 Battery Replacement
Theclamp-onmeterModel500 ispoweredby twoAA1.5Vbatter-ies. The symbolwillappearontheLCDdisplaywhenthesupplyvoltagedropsbelowproperoperating range.This indicates that thebatteries need to be changed. It is recommended to replace both bat-teries at the same time.• The meter must be in the OFF position and disconnected from
any circuit or input.• Placethemeterfacedownandloosenthebatterycoverscrew
withaflatheadscrewdriver.• Replacetheoldbatterieswithtwofresh1.5VAAAsizebatteries.• Replacethebatterycompartmentcoverandtightendownthe
screw.

Repair and CalibrationToensurethatyourinstrumentmeetsfactoryspecifications,werecommendthatit be submitted to our factory Service Center at one-year intervals for recalibra-tion, or as required by other standards or internal procedures.
For instrument repair and calibration:You must contact our Service Center for a Customer Service Authorization Number(CSA#).Thiswillensure thatwhenyour instrumentarrives, itwillbetrackedandprocessedpromptly.PleasewritetheCSA#ontheoutsideoftheshippingcontainer.Iftheinstrumentisreturnedforcalibration,weneedtoknowifyouwantastandardcalibration,oracalibrationtraceabletoN.I.S.T.(Includescalibrationcertificateplusrecordedcalibrationdata).

INTRODUCCIÓN
Advertencia Lea el manual de usuario antes de operar el instru-
mento y siga todas las instrucciones de seguridad. Sóloutiliceelmedidorcomoseindicaenestemanual
de usuario. Nuncautiliceestemedidorenuncircuitoconvoltajes
superiores a 600Vrms @ 50/60Hz. Nuncamida corrientemientras los cables de prueba
estén conectados a las entradas. No opere el medidor si la carcasa o los cables de
prueba están dañados. Reviseelselectorderangorotatorioyasegúreseque
está en la posición correcta antes de cada medición. Norealicepruebasderesistencianidecontinuidaden
un circuito vivo. Seaextremadamentecuidadosocuandomidaencircui-
tos vivos con voltajes superiores a 60VCD o 30VCA. Tengamuchocuidadoaltrabajarcercadebarrasbusy
conductores desnudos. Noutiliceelmedidorfueraderangooencondiciones
de sobrecarga (OL). Para obtener lecturas exactas, cambie la batería
cuando aparece el símbol .

2.3.2 Deshabilitar la Función Apagado Automático
• DeshabilitarlaFunciónApagadoAutomático.
• Presione y mantenga presionado el botón , luego encienda el medidor seleccionando un rango.
• La función Apagado Automático será reactivada lapróximavezqueseenciendaelinstrumento.

5.3 Reemplazo de la BateríaEl medidor de tenaza Modelo 500 es alimentado por dos baterías tipo AAA de 1.5V. Cuando el voltaje de alimentación cae por debajo del rango de operación apropiado aparece en la pantalla LCD el símbolo
. Este indica que se debe reemplazar la batería. Se recomienda reemplazar ambas baterías simultáneamente.
• ElmedidordebeestarenlaposiciónOFFydesconectadodecual-quier circuito o entrada.
• Coloqueelmedidorcaraabajoysuelteeltornillodelacubiertadela batería con un destornillador de paleta.
• ReemplacelasbateríasviejaspordosbateríasnuevasdetamañoAAA de 1.5V.
