1. Power On / Off, Play / Pause and Record button

Turns your player on and off.Enables various functions, depending on the mode you are in.Starts and pauses recordings.

Selecting menu options: We use the term “Scroll Select” when we want you to use the Scroller to scroll to a menu option, and then select it by pressing the Scroller.1. Turn the Scroller to scroll through menu options on

Getting Started

11 Set Up Software

DO NOT connect your player to your computer before setting up the software.

1. Turn on your computer.If you have Microsoft® Windows® XP or Windows 2000, you must log in as an administrator in Windows before you can set up the software. For more information, refer to your operating system’s online Help.

2. Insert the Installation and Applications CD into your CD-ROM/DVD-ROM drive. Your CD should start automatically. If it does not, follow the steps below:

i. Start Windows Explorer.

ii. On the left pane, click the My Computer icon.

iii. Right-click the CD-ROM/DVD-ROM drive icon, and then click AutoPlay.

3. Follow the instructions on the screen.

4. When prompted, restart your computer.

5. When your computer restarts, follow the product registration instructions on the screen.Note that you require an Internet connection to register your product.

When prompted, connect your player to your computer’s USB port using the supplied USB cable.

22 Turn On Player

Your player comes preloaded with some music to get you started immediately.

1. Press and hold the Play/Pause button until your player turns on.

2. Connect your earphones and press the Volume buttons to adjust the volume.

3. Press the Play/Pause button to play the preloaded content.

4. When you turn on your player for the first time, the menu will be in English. To change the language:

i. Press the scroller.

ii. Scroll-select the Settings option.

iii. Scroll-select the Language option.

iv. Scroll-select a language.

5. After you have finished using your player, press and hold the Play/Pause button until the screen turns off.

For more information on using the Scroller, see “Scroller” on page 1.

33 Charge the Battery

1. Make sure your player is connected to your computer’s USB port with the supplied USB cable. Connect to a computer USB port only; avoid connecting to a USB hub.

2. When the battery is charging, the battery charging icon flashes on the LCD.

3. Disconnect your player from your computer when the battery is fully charged and you see on your LCD. It takes approximately six hours to charge your player fully.

For Windows 98 SE only: DO NOT charge your player's battery via the USB cable until after you have installed the software.

When charging the battery:• Avoid transferring files between your player and computer as this may lengthen the

charging time. For continuous charging:• Make sure your computer does not enter power conservation mode, for example,

Standby or Hibernation. For more information, refer to your operating system's Help.

• To charge your player without using the computer, use the Zen Neeon power adapter (available separately).

44 Rip and copy music

Rip music from your CD collection to your player, or copy audio files (such as music you have purchased online) from your computer.

To rip music from your CD collection

1. With your player connected to your computer, double-click the My Computer icon on your desktop.

2. Double-click the Zen Neeon Media Explorer icon.

3. Click the Rip Audio CD Tracks to Device option.

4. Follow the instructions on the screen.If you are connected to the Internet, album information is automatically retrieved.

To copy audio files from your computer

1. With your player connected to your computer, double-click the My Computer icon on your desktop.You will notice that your player is recognized as a Removable Disk.

2. Locate your audio files (MP3 or WMA files) on your computer and copy them to your player using the drag-and-drop method.Note that you can also transfer data files using this drag-and-drop method.

• WMA files with Digital Rights Management (DRM) cannot be copied to your player using Windows Explorer. You can only do so with applications that support this technology, such as Zen Neeon Media Explorer and Creative MediaSource™ .

555 Stopping Your Player Properly

Before disconnecting your player from your computer, use the Windows Eject or Safely Remove Hardware icon on the Taskbar to safely disconnect your player. If your player is not disconnected safely, the content may become corrupted and the player will not function correctly. Follow these steps below to safely disconnect your player:

Windows XP, Windows Me and Windows 20001. Click the Safely Remove Hardware icon on the Taskbar and click Safely remove

USB Mass Storage Device as shown.

2. Unplug your player when you are prompted to do so.

Windows 98 SE1. Wait at least 10 seconds after all file transfers are completed.

2. In Windows Explorer, right-click the Removable Disk icon and click Eject and disconnect your player when you are prompted to do so.

Some Basic Functions

Playing a trackTo play a track1. Press the Play/Pause button until the LCD lights up.

2. Press the scroller, then scroll-select the Music option.

3. Press the scroller, then scroll-select Browse.

4. Scroll-select a track.

To pause a trackPress the Play/Pause button . Press the button again to continue playback.

To adjust the volume levelPress the volume buttons to increase or decrease the volume level.

Locking and Unlocking Your PlayerLock your player when you want to prevent buttons from being accidentally pressed, such as when your player is in your pocket or bag.

To lock your playerMove the switch toward the icon.

To unlock your playerMove the switch away from the icon.

Managing Audio TracksFor more advanced song management tasks, such as creating and managing playlists, you can use Creative MediaSource Organizer. Creative MediaSource Player/Organizer is your digital audio center for playing, creating, organizing and transferring digital audio. To launch Creative MediaSource Player/Organizer, double-click the Creative MediaSource Player/Organizer icon on your desktop.

プレーヤーについて

1. 電源オン / オフ、再生 / 一時停止、

録音ボタンプレーヤーの電源をオン／オフします。また、状態に応じて再生や録音の開始、停止等の操作が行えます。

2. スクローラー液晶画面のメニューをスクロールしたりメニューオプションの選択、曲のスキップや早送り / 巻戻し等が行えます。

メニューでは : 「スクロールセレクト」という指示があったら、下記のようにスクローラーを動かして項目を選び、スクローラーを押込んで項目を決定します。

ご使用の準備

11 ソフトウェア / マニュアルのインストール

インストールを行う前にプレーヤーをコンピューターに接続しないで下さい。

1. コンピューターを起動します。お使いのオペレーティングシステムが Microsoft® Windows® XP または Windows 2000 の場合、管理者権限を持つユーザーアカウントでログオンした状態でソフトウェアのインストールを行って下さい。ユーザーアカウントや権限に関する詳細はコンピューターや Windows のマニュアル等を参照して下さい。

2. 製品に付属のインストレーション CD をコンピューターの CD/DVD ドライブに挿入します。インストールメニューが自動的に現れない場合は次の手順に従って下さい：

i. スタートメニューやデスクトップのマイコンピュータを開きます。

ii. インストレーション CD を挿入した CD/DVD ドライブのアイコンをマウスでクリックし、右ボタンをクリックします。

iii. ポップアップメニューより自動再生をクリックします。

3. インストールメニューの指示に従い、国 / 地域（日本の場合はアジア）や言語（日本語）、インストールするソフトウェア等を選んでインストールを開始します。

4. 画面の指示に従いインストールを完了させ、コンピューターを再起動します。

5. ユーザー登録を行われる場合は、再起動後にプレーヤーをコンピューターに接続して、画面の指示に従い登録作業を行って下さい。ユーザー登録は任意であり、インターネット接続が必要ですので、登録を行わない場合やインターネットに接続出来ない場合は、キャンセルして登録プログラムを終了して下さい

･ Windows 98 SE が動作しているコンピューターで本製品をお使になる際は、プレーヤーのデバイスドライバーをインストールする必要がある場合があります。ドライバーのインストール途中に Windows の CD を要求された際は、画面の指示に従って下さい。

22 バッテリーの充電

1. USB ケーブルを使用してプレーヤーとコンピューターの USB ポートを接続します。起動しているコンピューターにプレーヤーを接続しておくと、バッテリーの充電が行われます。この際は、USB ハブではなくコンピューター本体の USB ポートにプレーヤーを接続して下さい。内蔵バッテリーの充電中は液晶画面の右上にが点滅表示されます。

2. バッテリーが完全に充電されると、液晶画面の右上にが表示されます。コンピューターの USB ポート経由で充電を行う場合、電池残量がほぼ空の状態から満充電までにおよそ 6 時間程度を要します。プレーヤーをすぐにお使いになる場合は、17 ページの「プレーヤーの取り外し」の手順てプレーヤーを安全に取り外して下さい。

充電を行う場合は :･コンピューターとプレーヤーの間でファイル等の転送を行うと、充電時間を

より要する事があります。充電中は :･コンピューターがパワーセーブモードやスタンバイモード等になると充電が

中断してしまう場合があります。パワーモードの変更についてはコンピューターや Windows のマニュアル等を参照して下さい。

･ Windows 98 SE をお使いの場合は、コンピューターにプレーヤーのデバイスドライバーがインストールされていないと正常に充電されない事があります。

･充電時間はバッテリーの状態やプレーヤーの使用状況等によって変化する場合があります。

･オプション品の USB 電源アダプターをご使用頂くと、コンピューターにプレーヤーを接続しなくても AC 電源から充電することが出来ます。

33 音楽 CD や音楽ファイルの転送

お手持ちの音楽 CD やオンラインミュージックストアで購入した曲をプレーヤーで再生するには、コンピューターからプレーヤーに曲を転送する必要があります。Creative MediaSource（クリエイティブメディアソース）をお使いになると音楽の転送がスムーズに、直感的に行えます。また、デジタルカメラの画像ファイル等もプレーヤーに保存して持ち運ぶ事が出来ます。この際は Windows エクスプローラや Zen Neeon メディアエクスプローラを使用します。操作方法についての詳細は各ソフトウェアのオンラインヘルプをご覧下さい。

音楽 CD をコンピューター経由でプレーヤーに転送するには1. プレーヤーをコンピューターに接続した状態で、スタートメニューやデスクトップの

マイコンピュータを開きます。

2. Creative Zen Neeon メディアエクスプローラアイコンをダブルクリックします。

3. 音楽 CD を Zen Neeon にリッピングするメニューをクリックします。

4. 音楽 CD をコンピューターの CD/DVD ドライブに挿入して画面の指示に従います。コンピューターがインターネットに接続されている場合は音楽 CD の諸情報をミュージックインフォメーションサービスより入手することが可能です。

コンピューター上の音楽ファイルをプレーヤーに転送するには1. プレーヤーをコンピューターに接続した状態で、スタートメニューやデスクトップの

マイコンピュータを開きます。

2. Creative Zen Neeon メディアエクスプローラアイコンをダブルクリックします。

3. Zen Neeon のデータを管理するメニューをクリックします。

4. Zen Neeon の内蔵ドライブの内容が表示されますので、Windows エクスプローラーでファイルをコピーする場合と同様に、音楽ファイルを Zen Neeon のドライブにコピーします。

･ Windows エクスプローラは、著作権保護（DRM）されている Windows Media Audio ファイルの転送をサポートしていません。この様な DRM 付きの WMAファイルを転送する場合は、Creative MediaSource や Creative Zen Neeonメディアエクスプローラなどの著作権保護機構をサポートするソフトウェアを使用してファイルを転送して下さい。

44 プレーヤーの取り外し

コンピューターからプレーヤーを取り外す際は、タスクバーのシステムトレイにある取り外しアイコン等を使用して Windows の手順に従った安全な取り外しを行う必要があります。手順に従わないとプレーヤーやコンピューターのデータを破損する恐れがありますので必ず次の手順に従って下さい。

Windows XP または Windows 2000、Windows Me の場合1. タスクバーのシステムトレイのハードウェアの安全な取り外しまたは取り出し

アイコンをクリックし、ポップアップメニューより USB 大容量記憶装置デバイスを安全に取り外しますをクリックします。

2. 安全に取り外す事が出来る旨のメッセージが表示されたらプレーヤーから USBケーブルを取り外します。

Windows 98 SE の場合1. ファイル等の転送中の場合は、転送が終了してから 10 秒程待ちます。

2. スタートメニューやデスクトップのマイコンピュータを開き、プレーヤーがリムーバブルディスクとして認識されているドライブのアイコンをマウスでクリックし、右ボタンをクリックします。

3. ポップアップメニューより取り出しをクリックして 10 秒程待ち、プレーヤーからUSB ケーブルを取り外します。

プレーヤーにはすぐに音楽を楽しめるようにサンプル曲も収められています。

1. 液晶画面が点灯するまで電源オン / オフボタンを押し続けます。

2. ヘッドフォンを図の様に接続します。

3. 再生 / 一時停止ボタンを押してサンプル曲を再生します。

4. ボリュームアップ / ダウンボタンを適宜押して音量を調節します。

5. 出荷時の状態ではプレーヤーの表示言語は英語に設定されてる事がありますので、表示言語を日本語に変更するには次の手順に従います：

i. スクローラーを 1 度押してメニューを表示します。

ii. Settings をスクロールセレクトします。

iii. Language をスクロールセレクトします。

iv. 日本語をスクロールセレクトします。

6. 音楽の再生を終えてプレーヤーの電源を切るには、液晶画面が消灯するまで電源オン / オフボタンを押し続けます。

･トラックのスキップや巻戻し / 早送りに関しては 12 ページの「スクローラー」の使用方法を参考にして下さい。

･安全のため、自動車の運転中など、細心の注意が必要な場合はヘッドフォンを使用しないで下さい。

基本操作

音楽の再生再生を開始するには1. 電源オン / オフボタンを数秒押してプレーヤーの電源をオンにします。

2. スクローラーを押してメニューを表示し、ミュージックをスクロールセレクトします。

3. もう一度スクローラーを押して、参照 ... をスクロールセレクトします。

4. フォルダやトラックをスクロールセレクトして再生 / 一時停止ボタンを押します。

再生を一時停止するには再生中に再生 / 一時停止ボタンを押します。

一時停止を解除するには一時停止中に再生 / 一時停止ボタンを押します。

音量を調節するにはボリュームアップ / ダウンボタンを押します。

プレーヤーのボタンロックボタンロックスイッチを使用すると、プレーヤー本体のスクローラーやボタンの誤操作を防ぐ事が出来ます。

プレーヤー本体のボタンをロックするにはボタンロックスイッチをアイコンの方にスライドさせます。

ボタンのロックを解除するにはボタンロックスイッチをアイコンの反対にスライドさせます。

その他の操作本プレーヤーでは上記以外に FM ラジオの受信や録音、内蔵マイクによるボイスレコーディング、ライン入力による録音等の機能を備えており、イコライザーによる再生音の調節や再生パターンの変更等もプレーヤーで行えます。また、Creative MediaSource オーガナイザーを使用すれば任意の曲を指定した順番で再生出来るプレイリストを作る事も可能で、Creative Zen Neeon メディアエクスプローラでは音楽ファイル名に連番をつけることも可能です出来ます。
